History
In the early 1940s, the von Trapp family toured the United States as the Trapp Family Singers before eventually settling in Stowe, Vermont, on an enchanted farm with sweeping mountain vistas reminiscent of their beloved Austria. In the summer of 1950, they began welcoming guests to a rustic, 27-room family home/lodge. After a devastating fire in 1980, the original structure was replaced by the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort guests visit today.
Favorite Moment During a Wedding: First, seeing it all come together beautifully and seamlessly ! Then, right after the ceremony ends, congratulating couples for the first time. This time is filled with absolute joy and bliss!
Favorite Vermont Activity: We have many activities right here at the Lodge that we enjoy. Going to the von Trapp Bierhall after a Brewery or doing the “Meet the Cows” tour are two great examples.

On average, couples spend $1,500 to reserve ceremony sites and $6,000- $15,500 to reserve specific wedding receptions at von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort. Couples have the opportunity to create an entire wedding weekend; including Rehearsal Dinners, Welcome Parties, Wedding Day Lunch, Reception Catering, Late Night, and Farewell Brunches and more! We attended the Roda wedding at the von Trapp Lodge and the wedding venue and reception was magnificent! The site was breathtaking at the mountain top and the reception was amazing. The food was excellent and the staff and guests enjoyed the hospitality and the entire event was fantastic . Thank you for inviting us to your wedding. Wonderful memories were made at the von Trapp lodge Wedding.
Wedding Coordination Life Savers!
The wedding coordinators, Saunie and Caroline, are real life super heroes. We planned our wedding from Houston which was extremely stressful at times; we hadn’t even ever seen the venue before the week of the wedding. Nonetheless, they stayed in constant communication with us, made us feel relaxed, and were overall a joy to work with. The outdoor ceremony was exceptionally beautiful and our reception in the Mozart room was perfect. If you’re wondering where to get married in the future, this is the place!
The best experience
We are so happy that we chose Trapp Family Lodge as our wedding venue! Caroline & Saunie were both wonderful to work with and I felt that they were super responsive to my (many!) emails and questions. The food was amazing, the staff was efficient, and all our guests were so happy! Highly recommend meeting with the coordinators the day before the wedding to run through everything as it will make for a smooth wedding day! I was also able to meet with them morning of to quickly go over some last minute details which really helped ease my nerves. We were really able to customize our wedding day and I wish we could relive it over and over again. Highly recommend Trapp.
