Lindsay Appleton Photography is a documentary and film-inspired wedding and elopement photographer based out of Vermont and New England, but offers photography services worldwide.
My style is very documentary with a bit of an editorial flare, I thrive off of those “unnoticed” moments that come and go so quickly, the moments that typically mean the most at the end of the day to my couples. I’m drawn to the in-between moments, like your grandma smiling as you fix your hair, your mom tearing up as you laugh with friends, or a quiet hand squeeze during toasts. I aim to have a “fly on the wall” approach, while always still offering guidance, advice and all sorts of assistance throughout each unique day.
I only take on a limited number of weddings each month to ensure a personal, connected experience, because you’re not just another client, and your story deserves to be told with care! Being more than just a photographer to each couple is so important to me and helps me tell each couple’s story in the most authentic and true to them way.
Favorite Moment During a Wedding: It is SO hard to narrow it down to just one moment, but I think the first few minutes after the ceremony when the couple is just fully immersed in the happiest moment of their life. All the stress and nerves that can come with a wedding drift away, and they are absolutely bursting with joy, and I’m lucky enough to capture that once-in-a-lifetime feeling for them to reminisce on forever, and that means the world.
Favorite Vermont Activity: Oh gosh – Vermont is bursting with all of my favorite things, but if I had to choose, I’d say all of the incredible hiking! Choose any mountain in Vermont and you’ve got a beautiful view at the top. I’m never taking that for granted!

From the moment we saw her portfolio, my fiancé and I knew we wanted to work with Lindsay on our wedding day. She is the only photographer we reached out to and we’re so happy that she was available! This last summer we had our engagement session with her and we could not have asked for a more fun, relaxed experience. Lindsay made us feel so comfortable and gave really helpful cues to make us feel at ease in front of the camera. Lindsay is so sweet and extremely talented at what she does! Lindsay was phenomenal–she’s so flexible, patient, and easy to work with. It rained the morning of our wedding and we were in full game planning mode trying to figure out a new spot to do first look, family photos, and even the ceremony. While we were all stressing, she captured the most beautiful details photos and helped us pose for some getting ready pictures. She found the perfect outdoor but covered space for us to do our first look with good lighting. She handed us umbrellas and took some stunning portraits in the rain that turned out to be some of our favorites. When our wedding planner randomly found a golf cart for us to use, she eagerly drove us to the top of a mountain to take pictures with gorgeous views.
Lindsay is always quietly sneaking around capturing all of the perfect moments. You don’t even realize she’s there and I think that’s why she’s able to get such stunning candid shots. Her photography style is exactly what we wanted, not too posed and something that truly captures emotions. We couldn’t be happier with Lindsay’s work and we can’t wait to see the rest of our album!

Her light directions when needed and calm presence were a treat on my hectic wedding day. She is professional, timely, detail-oriented, and truly captured my vision through her own artistic lens. During the wedding day I barely knew she was there, she blended into the crowd to get the most authentic, unposed photos of my loved one’s which I will forever cherish.
