I’m Julia, the photographer behind Julia Ellie Photo, and I photograph intimate Vermont weddings and elopements for people who value presence over performance.
I want your time in front of my camera to be a container for good things, not a stage where you have to prove anything. My work is rooted in the belief that photography should feel like an experience of care, not a performance. You do not have to become more polished, effortless, romantic, thin, chill, normal, or Pinterest-ready to deserve photos that feel beautiful and real. You get – and are encouraged – to be a person here. I photograph elopements, intimate weddings, and sessions with a grounded, relationship-forward approach. I offer guidance when it helps, give you space when that’s needed, and I never ever expect you to perform joy or romance on command. If you feel awkward in front of a camera, then I’m happy to say you are a human being with a nervous system, and we will tend to its needs together.
My work is especially for queer, trans, fat, neurodivergent, BIPOC, disabled, and otherwise marginalized humans who want to feel respected and seen instead of managed, molded, or boxed in. As a queer and neurodivergent person myself, I value consent, body autonomy, emotional safety, and real connection over adhering to arbitrary beauty standards or wedding industry norms. I believe being witnessed without being flattened into someone else’s idea of what love, family, or beauty is supposed to look like can be transformative.
As a Vermont wedding and elopement photographer, I’m endlessly grateful for the way this state holds a wedding day: the mountains, lakes, waterfalls, weird weather, deeply talented vendor community, and couples who tend to care more about presence than perfection. The point is not to make your celebration or session look like someone else’s idea of beautiful. The point is to create experiences that allow for photos that feel honest, tender, alive, and like YOU.

Favorite Moment During a Wedding: The little exhale/cheer/smooch after the ceremony. That “oh wow, we actually did it” feeling. I also love any moment where a couple gets to stop managing the day and actually be inside it: hugging their people, enjoying a stunning Vermont sunset, shouting their favorite song on the dance floor, eating a fun little snack, wandering off together for five minutes, laughing at something ridiculous, all of it.
Favorite Vermont Activity: Finding a trail, a river spot, or a patch of woods where my nervous system remembers it has a body. Bonus points if there is a cozy spot for my hammock, some neat moss, spots to wade in, a dramatic lighting situation, or a good maple creemee nearby.

Most eloping couples invest $2,850–$4,250+, with half-day coverage being the most common fit.
Most couples planning weddings invest $4,750–$5,500+, with 6–8 hours being the most common fit. Coverage includes planning support, timeline guidance, sneak peeks, a full gallery of edited images, personal-use printing rights, and an online gallery. Film photography, additional coverage, and a second photographer may be added depending on the shape of the day.

Julia was the absolute perfect photographer for my wedding day. She was engaging, personable, professional, and brought the vision my husband and I had to life. Before even booking her formally, we were able to have a meeting to discuss who we are and what we were looking for. During the planning process, Julia shared more about her style of photography and collaborated with us in a way that was so natural. One of the most helpful things she created was a running document of her timeline that we could adjust as needed, depending on family or other vendors. It made planning the actual day so easy! We’re so honored to be able to have her artwork forever. Getting the sneak peeks (only 4 days after our wedding!!!) allowed us to see our day through the eyes of our loved ones. I truly cannot recommend Julia enough!
