Hi, I’m Allison (Ali for short!) – a Vermont-born photographer for the wild and wildly in love. As a storytelling photographer, I aim to capture your day as it naturally unfolds. Although I always provide direction and support when needed, I also take big steps back throughout your day to let you be yourselves, stay present, and let the day happen naturally. I want you to see yourselves and your authentic relationship in your final gallery, not a collection of orchestrated moments. We’ll work together before your wedding or elopement day to get to know each other so the day-of feels smooth, natural, fun, and real. 

I call myself an “intimate wedding photographer” because I approach weddings and elopements similarly—Focusing on your relationship, the love story you want to tell, and the location and other details you put so much thought and care into.

With a nod to classic film, a timeless feel, and a creative twist, your final gallery will pull you back to the fleeting moments of your day. This includes your big moments and the in-betweens and supporting details that make your day what it truly is (and that are so easy to forget as the day fades to memory). I now offer film and Super 8 video as add-ons to my wedding and elopement packages, perfect for couples who want even more nostalgia and storytelling woven into their memories!

I live in northern Vermont with my husband, son, and our two crazy (but so cuddly!) German Shorthaired Pointers, Blue and Lucy. When I’m not behind my camera photographing couples, I’m taking photos of families, newborns, and mamas (I love creating deep relationships with my couples and working with a family through all seasons and stages). You may also find me reading, taking pics of my little fam, or doing pretty much anything outside!

Favorite Moment During a Wedding: The first moment a couple has a pocket of alone time together—whether it is during a first look, private vows, or right after a ceremony. I always describe the feeling of my wedding morning as “holding my breath” until I saw my husband, and I’ve found that this is pretty universal. I love that I can see, feel, and document the change in a couple when they can finally just be themselves together.

Favorite Vermont Activity: My husband’s family has a camp in northern Vermont (think: real camp with a wood stove, outhouse, and “running water” piped in from the stream). We go up all times of year to unplug, explore the outdoors (whether we’re snowshoeing, hiking, or paddleboarding on the pond), and spend time together.

On average, couples spend $5,000 on full wedding day coverage with Allison Macy Photography. This includes 8 hours of photography coverage and a full downloadable gallery (web-sized and high-resolution). Add-on hours, a second photographer, and a-la-carte orders are also available. For couples looking to capture their day in a more nostalgic, cinematic way, film and Super 8 video add-ons are now available.
