Blooming Love: A Wedding Years in The Making

Taylor and Matt’s love story is years in the making! They met in first grade, reconnected in middle school, and started dating long distance in college. On their wedding day, they were celebrated their love story surrounded by loved ones, including their sweet son Ashton and cute dog Brody. The couple chose The Barn at Boyden Farm for its beautiful location and rustic charm.

With three years of planning, every wedding detail came together perfectly. First, we have to mention the florals by Anaphora Flowers. From the cascading bouquets filled with pastel roses and delicate greenery, to the lush centerpieces that adorned each table, every petal was carefully curated. The vibrant pops of color against the rustic backdrop of The Barn at Boyden Farm complimented each other perfectly.

The drool-worthy dessert table from Cronin Cakes and Sweets was another show-stopper of the night!

Don’t miss the couple’s outfit change for their reception exit: this cute, casual look is a fun one! (And practical; you could wear this again on your honeymoon.)

We’re certain you’ll love this inspiration- and that Taylor and Matt look back on their special day with fond memories and immense joy!

Nestled in the hills of rural Vermont, this family-owned farm offers an idyllic backdrop for your special day. Barn at Boyden Farm

The Vibe: What are three words or phrases to describe your venue?

The Barn at Boyden farm is authentic, historic and truly Vermont! You can’t beat the beauty of the natural landscape here.

The space: Can couples host their ceremony and reception on site? What are those spaces like?

Most couples choose to host their ceremony and reception on site. Guests will enjoy the spectacular mountain views as couples exchange vows in the shade beneath the open air post & beam pavilion.

On occasion, Vermont weather decides to challenge us with inclement weather that is unsuitable for an outdoor ceremony. In situations such as this, the hayloft barn space, primarily used for receptions, has the perfect ambiance for sharing your most special occasion with all of your family and friends.

The amenities: What do you include?

When a couple reserves our property for their wedding, their reservation includes use of the property for three days. We kick off your weekend with a rehearsal  ceremony and dinner or welcome party, if desired. We also provide delicious coffee and donuts or brunch during your final day with us.

We include chairs & benches at the ceremony site, patio furniture for cocktail hour – plus tables and chairs for your reception. We can provide interested couples with our complete list of onsite amenities. From the initial inquiry to when you arrive for your big day, our team is here for you!

On your wedding day, Boyden Events Property Managers are present throughout your celebration to welcome you all and assist with any property details from start to finish so that you can enjoy your time together.

The area: What is there to do in the local area?

Boyden Farm is located 30 minutes from both Stowe and Burlington. Whether you envision your wedding weekend in the mountains or in Burlington, there are many activities to add to your weekend itinerary. We particularly like to enjoy the Burlington bike path, Church Street, restaurants and breweries.

You can also explore our own neighborhood of Jeffersonville. For example, you can rent a canoe or kayak ride down the Lamoille River, which runs right past Boyden Farm. The Lamoille Rail trail and other various mountain bike trails are close for riding, running and hiking. Golf and Disc Golf are also fabulous group activities which are in the vicinity. The possibilities are endless!

The history: Does the property have a rich history?

The barn was originally built in 1800 and has been lovingly restored throughout the years. We maintained the original charm and beams, but added modern upgrades like full plumbing, AC, heat and gorgeous chandeliers. Boyden Farm has been in our family since 1914; our children are the 5th generation and we absolutely love sharing the property with you!

ROMANTIC FALL WEDDING AT BOYDEN FARM

Every season has its own unique beauty, but there is something special about autumn in Vermont. For Lauren and Joe, the season offered the perfect backdrop to their October wedding the Barn at Boyden Farm. “We wanted friends and family, especially those who had never been to Vermont, to experience the beauty the Green Mountains has to offer!” says Lauren. “Being late October, we were blessed with both foliage and snow capped mountains.”

Lauren, originally from the Northeast Kingdom, and Joe, who grew up skiing in Vermont, met in Atlanta through mutual friends. They said it was a no-brainer to celebrate their wedding back in the state they both loved.

Vermont Fall Wedding Details

Because of the early chill, guests were greeted with blankets, hand warmers and spiked cider to stay warm during the outdoor ceremony, which took place under an arbor built by the bride’s dad with driftwood from her childhood home.

Some of the couple’s favorite moments were in the quiet, small details of the day. Joe fondly remembers watching Lauren walk down the aisle, noting her veil glowed in the evening sun. Lauren says her favorite moment was the vows. “Joe had rescued two kittens for me a year before we got married,” she explains. “and he had written his vows on a kitty card. I was so nervous, but when I saw the card, I couldn’t help but smile and feel at ease.”
