Purple and Pearls: A Vintage-Inspired Wedding in Sharon, Vermont

Cody and Madison wanted the perfect combination of old and new for their wedding to build a unique vintage chic aesthetic. The small details of their wedding at Gobeille Farm really came to life in their photographs by Sean Hood Photography, who made sure not to miss anything from their detailed wedding. From the lovingly restored barn that served as the perfect venue, to the charming DIY decorations that added a personal touch, every element of Cody and Madison’s wedding tells a story. Join us as we delve into the magic of their beautiful celebration and congratulate the newlyweds on their perfect day!

Modern Romance: Finding Forever on Tinder

Seven years ago, Cody and Madison met on Tinder, and he had the perfect response to her bio that said,  “tell me your favorite joke.”  From his response, Madison knew that he was the one that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. For their engagement, Cody planned a surprise vacation for them in New Hampshire, and refused to tell Madison where they were going or how long they were staying there. He proposed on a deck overlooking the beautiful Lake Sunapee.

Reflecting on the playful question from Madison’s dating profile, the couple had a clear vision when it came time to plan their wedding. They knew they wanted to create a joyful atmosphere, where guests felt at ease to laugh and indulge in some lighthearted fun.

A Pastel Summer Wedding Full of Purples & Vintage Charm

The morning of the wedding, everyone got ready at the property’s farmhouse, which was a great example of the vintage charm that the couple was looking for. Madison’s makeup was done by Sweet Face Beauty Company and her hair was done by Over the Wildmoon Salon.

Growing up, Madison had always been obsessed with the color purple and with pearls, so she decided to base the entire wedding around that theme. At first, Madison attempted to go for a trendy burnt orange color scheme, but we love that she stuck with her favorite color for her big day. All of the little details of this wedding are absolutely stunning including but not limited to: the mismatched purple glasses that adorned reception tables, the pearls in Madison’s hair (and veil!), and the purple seals on the cards denoting seating for the reception.

For the ceremony, the couple chose to host it on a lawn outside on the farm, with a pergola adorned by a draped purple sash and florals beautifully crafted by Vermont wedding florist M’s Weddings Flowers. Emily, the couple’s florist, did an excellent job of incorporating Madison’s purple into all of the bouquets, maintaining a cohesive theme for the entire wedding. Emily also created a small pocket boutonniere for the inside of Cody’s front jacket pocket, which added an extra matching touch for the couple. (This is a growing menswear trend that we are loving!)

Cody and the groomsmen looked especially dashing in their light gray suits with pastel purple floral patterned ties. We love how they used McNeil and Reedy, a family-owned Vermont business for their suits. The bridesmaids wore lavender dresses in a variety of cuts, which allowed them to all look stunning and confident. Despite messing up her vows during the ceremony, Madison realized that something like that did not ruin their wedding day and everyone got a good laugh out of it. Another personal touch that Madison added was finding vintage hankies for everyone to use during the ceremony, which added to the vintage feel of the venue.

An Iconic and Lively Wedding Reception

The bridal party had an absolutely iconic entrance that brought the couple’s reception to life. Madison’s brother and college roommate spent months planning for it, and decided to be birds (no one knows why). Her brother wore a blow-up eagle costume, and her college roommate wore light-up wings – which were a fun touch on the dance floor later that night.

To keep guests fueled for their fun-filled evening, the couple enlisted in Bloods Catering and Party Rental and 802 Cocktail Service. When it was time to truly get the party started, DJ Big Handsome was ready with music to bring everyone onto the dance floor! We love the fun accessories that guests and the couple used at their receptions, including colorful heart-shaped sunglasses and blow-up guitars.

As the night grew on, Madison and Cody tended to everyone’s dessert cravings. Palmer Lane Maple came with their famous creemee truck, and it was a hit, especially in the warm summer weather. Madison and Cody were even allowed to help serve their guests, and they loved getting the chance to be inside the truck, interacting with their guests differently. Sweet Vermont Treats brought Madison’s vision to life with a white cake that was covered in pearls- proving that something can be equal parts stunning and delicious!

This special day was all made possible with Madison and Cody’s vision and with the help of their stellar wedding planner, Katie of The Hoppy Wife. Together the crew did a great job of bringing Madison’s pearlescent lavender fantasy to life. The couple succeeded in having a fun filled wedding with many elegant, vintage-inspired details. Congratulations Madison and Cody!

A Bright October Wedding in the Heart of Vermont

Today, we’re whisking you away to our favorite Vermont season: fall. It’s never too early to start daydreaming of a wedding where the air is crisp, and the foliage paints a masterpiece of fiery reds, warm golds, and vibrant oranges. We’re swooning over this couple’s perfect fall wedding at Mountain Top Resort, full of sweet elements and a beautiful color palette. Thank you to skilled wedding photographer, Sally Carpenter Photography, for sharing Corey and Tori’s love story with us. Continue reading for more details on this romantic day!

The Inspiration Behind The Couple's Color Palette

When Corey and Tori started planning their Vermont wedding, they never imagined it would turn into the moody, fall-themed celebration it became. Corey had always expressed wanting to wear a tweed vest for their special day, something that is not typically a groom’s first choice when it comes to formal wear! With that wish in mind, Tori started thinking outside of the box and found a beautiful tartan wrap. She knew it would pair perfectly with Corey’s style choice, and as an interior designer, Tori took the inspiration to the next level. The result? A wedding theme the couple lovingly dubbed ‘tartan and tweed’!

This concept pulled together typical fall elements and colors, and then turned them up a notch resulting in hues like deep wine, berry and burgundy with nods of green. (Spoiler alert: this is a lovely, fresh take on an autumn color palette and we are in love with it.)

On the couple’s wedding day, both Tori and Corey got ready separately before meeting for first-look photos. Blush Vermont pampered Tori and her bridesmaids with exceptional treatment, ensuring that their hair was perfectly styled and their makeup exuded an ethereal and timeless aura.

A covered bridge pin, which was originally owned by Tori’s grandmother, was a precious keepsake as she had a profound admiration for Vermont’s covered bridges throughout her life. After her passing, the pin became an heirloom passed down to Tori’s mother. As a result, it served as Tori’s “something borrowed” on her tartan wrap during this special day.

Over at the groom’s suite, Tori’s father exchanged a gift with Corey. He purchased a sixpence and opted for the year 1956 as it was the year Corey’s grandparents tied the knot, adding an extra charming and family-oriented detail to the couple’s wedding day!

A Romantically Rustic Ceremony & Reception

In the embrace of rolling mountains, their peaks awash with the vibrant hues of fall foliage, Tori and Corey exchanged vows in a ceremony as breathtaking as the landscape surrounding them. The aisle commenced with aged barrels, symbols of time’s passage and the aging of love into something deeply beautiful. Atop these barrels rested lush floral arrangements, their colors and fragrances mingling with the crisp autumn air. Long farm benches and cream throw blankets welcomed guests to this picturesque setting, offering them a front-row seat to the union of Tori and Corey against the stunning backdrop of nature’s autumnal tapestry!

After the ceremony, guests made their way to Mountain Top Resort’s Event Barn, which was perfectly decorated for the occasion. The couple’s planner, Zoey Zariole, and Meadow’s Edge Floral Design dreamt up a romantic atmosphere complete with plenty of string lights, sleek votive candles, gold tea lights, and rich burgundy table runners. As a charming tribute to autumn, the couple opted to use petite, ivory pumpkins as their escort cards, adorably displaying the names of their esteemed guests and corresponding table numbers.

Following a night of lively dancing, guests had the opportunity to indulge their cravings for something sweet by savoring a delectable two-tiered cake crafted by Sweet Vermont Treats. We love the nods to Tori’s wedding bouquet that adorned the cake’s buttercream exterior.

Tori and Corey’s special day was so enchanting that the couple plan on moving to Vermont one day. Congratulations Tori and Corey on your beautiful Vermont wedding!

Thematic Dessert Displays

Your dessert table is a great place to really play with your theme and have fun with it! Dessert is inherently fun – why not really go for it with a theme that lights you up?

Check out these whimsical nature-inspired displays by The Goose Chase Cake Designs, featuring meringue mushrooms, butterflies, and other thematic details. “My advice to couples is think about items they love and incorporate them into your cake,” says baker, Sarah. “I like to think of a cake as a blank canvas and sugar as a sculpting medium, which means the sky’s the limit as to what we can do!”

You can choose from a variety of flavors and toppings, and your guests can help themselves to as many as they want. Ice Cream (Or a Full Blown Sundae Bar!)

An ice cream sundae bar is a classic dessert that will never go out of style. This is especially a popular option for steamy summer weddings! Whether you bring in an ice cream truck to scoop and serve (a fun interactive event!) or set up a sundae bar, guests will be delighted to cool off with a sweet treat.

Sisters of Anarchy Ice Cream offers a delicious farm-to-spoon taste of Vermont with their premium ice creams. “We either grow or source all of our ingredients from our own berry farm or other VT farm partners – it’s a true taste of Vermont!” They offer both scoops and make-your-own sundae bars with homemade sauces, cookies, and seasonal fresh berries. “The sundae bar is truly experiential and wedding guests have raved about it. Even if you are planning to have a cake, ice cream is the perfect complement!”

Personalized Sugar Cookies

Cookies are the perfect grab and go sweet treat (as you make your way back to the dance floor or catch up with friends). Plus, when they’re as beautiful as the creations by Sweet VT Treats, they double as favors and decorations! I think decorated sugar cookies are a fun way to have a more personalized dessert item at your wedding,” says baker, Karli. “There are endless amounts of designs to choose from: some popular options being a simple Vermont shape, the newlywed’s name, and their wedding date. Some other popular designs that people are ordering this year are: college alma mater logos, photos of pets, or personal wedding logos.”
