Wendy and Nick’s love story began nearly nine years ago at a cross-country party during Wendy’s very first weekend at Bates College. Since then, their shared love of the outdoors and active lifestyle has remained a constant. In fact, Nick proposed at the summit of Camel’s Hump—sweaty, muddy, and totally in their element. 

Wendy and Nick, both originally from Massachusetts, have called several parts of New England home, including Maine and now Vermont. The pair has always loved the changing of the seasons, especially the vibrant beauty of fall. So when it came time to plan their wedding, they searched for a venue that captured the magic of foliage season with a romantic, mountain setting. Jay Peak was the perfect fit!

Floral Arches, Fall Leaves, and a Vows With a Twist

The day began with Wendy getting ready alongside her bridesmaids, setting a joyful and relaxed tone for the celebration ahead. Her bridesmaids wore elegant green dresses, each in a slightly different style to reflect their personalities. Meanwhile, Nick and his groomsmen got ready in between rounds of card games in a separate area of Jay Peak. Throughout it all, Vermont wedding photographer, Portrait Gallery, was there to capture every beautiful moment. Surrounded by 140 of their closest friends and family, the couple tied the knot on a picture-perfect autumn weekend. The weather cooperated, the mountains showed off their seasonal color palette, and every detail of the celebration reflected Wendy and Nick’s personalities. A few standout details made Wendy and Nick’s wedding ceremony truly unforgettable. And in a uniquely personal twist, the couple chugged running gels during the ceremony. It was a playful and meaningful nod to how they first met and their shared commitment to pushing each other forward, both in races and in life.

After the ceremony, Wendy and Nick took portraits by a nearby pond while the groomsmen relaxed by skipping rocks and joking around. The atmosphere throughout the day was full of genuine happiness, with guests clearly enjoying being together to celebrate. The reception was held under a tent and featured several thoughtful DIY elements the couple created themselves. They designed their own centerpieces and used color-coded ribbons on escort cards to indicate each guest’s meal choice. After heartfelt speeches, the dance floor opened and quickly filled up. Guests also had the option to unwind by a nearby fire pit as the evening continued. As a final treat, guests were served an assortment of fruit crisps and scoops of ice cream.
