STUNNING MOUNTAIN VIEW WEDDING AT HILDENE

Lauren and Dusty are native Vermonters who have been together for 10 years. The timeless, historical, and elegant Hildene was the perfect backdrop for their summer wedding. Lauren and Dusty actually attended a prom at Hildene (as friends) when they were still in high school so they knew it was a perfect place to tie the knot.

Gorgeous Vermont Mountain Views at Hildene Wedding

Nestled between the Taconic and Green Mountains in Vermont is the glorious Hildene Estate. Hildene was the summer home of Abraham Lincoln’s son Robert Todd Lincoln, and it is where Lauren and Dusty chose to begin their marriage with breathtaking mountain views and sweeping valleys below.

Hildene is located right at the center of historic Manchester Village and encompasses everything charming and classic New England. It is full of interesting shops, excellent restaurants, and beautiful churches. So, even native Vermonters, like Lauren and Dusty, gravitate to it for celebrations.

The Ideal Tented Wedding Venue

Lauren and Dusty had the perfect summer day for an outdoor tented wedding. They chose a beautiful pastel pink color that was used throughout all of the details, including the flowers and bridesmaid dresses. The sail cloth tent for the reception looked so gorgeous and romantic for all of their guests to enjoy dinner and dancing to celebrate this wonderful couple!

BEST OF 2021: COMMUNITY

The best part of weddings in 2021? Hands down: the community moments. While the people are always the true highlight of celebrations, 2021 weddings were even sweeter after months of social distancing. Long awaited hugs and overwhelming joy to be together again…that’s what stands out the most across Vermont weddings in 2021.

As we close out our Best of 2021 series, we hope you enjoy these moments of community, and that it inspires gratitude for your own family and friends.

Quick recap: what is Vermont Weddings Best of 2021 Series?

A little backstory if you’re unfamiliar: we started the Best of series last year (2020) to highlight some of the amazing work by the talented teams in the Vermont wedding industry. It’s an opportunity to both celebrate a year’s worth of weddings and inspire couples who are planning a future Vermont wedding. (A quick note on the word “best”: the intention isn’t to make this a competition between weddings, but to share a small, but representative, sample of the weddings in Vermont this year.  To that end, please know that we love each and every wedding that was submitted, and the final picks are carefully chosen based on a variety of factors to create a compelling series.)

Here’s what you can expect:

All December, we’ll be rolling out inspiring stories in various categories:

Plus, because the submissions were just THAT good, we’re sharing our “semi finalist” picks for each category on Instagram. That means you’ll want to follow us to see even more highlights, and come back to the blog each week to see the “best” picks in each category.

We recommend signing up for our newsletter – we’ll send you an email each week with the highlights so you won’t miss a thing. (Going forward we only send 1 – 2 emails a month.)

Fresh & Floral

As a nod to the groom’s Georgia roots, Lindsey added whole and halved peaches into Clayton Floral’s amazing green garlands (also peep that archway installation – it’s UNBELIEVABLE), and painted custom place cards, menus and table numbers to include peaches as well. This Maquam Barn wedding is definitely a highlight of the year. (Photo: Julia Luckett Photography)

Elegance Under the Tent

NJOY Weddings & Events created a timeless, romantic reception tent for this Hildene wedding. We especially love how the tent glows after dark from the strands of twinkling lights that highlight the tent’s drapes. Total modern romance! (Photo: Corinne Parker)

BEST OF 2020: ELOPEMENTS & MICROWEDDINGS

THIS COUPLE WAS OVERJOYED WITH THEIR SUMMER HILDENE WEDDING

Allie and Chris celebrated their first dance to “Overjoyed” by Stevie Wonder, and no word could better describe how the couple felt on their day. From the perfect summer weather (it rained the whole week prior), to a rocking band, to the green and gold decor which brought Allie’s vision to life, the couple looks back on their day with utter joy.

Throughout the planning process, Allie says she wanted their wedding at Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home to be unique. “If someone mentioned ‘this is traditionally done’, I was determined to switch it up and pick something that felt natural for Chris and me.” One non-traditional, special element was the couple’s choice to provide Ben & Jerry’s ice cream over a traditional wedding cake. “This was one more step in the direction of the ultimate Vermont vibe,” says Allie.
