Meet Vermont Wedding Florist, Jordy, of Heaven Scent Floral Art

When it comes to crafting the perfect wedding day, the intricate details often make the most lasting impressions. One thing that plays a pivotal role? Floral arrangements! Vermont wedding florists are renowned for their ability to capture the natural beauty and essence of the region, transforming venues into breathtaking spaces that reflect the unique love story of each couple. Among these talented artisans is Jordy, the creative force behind Heaven Scent Floral Art. Jordy’s passion for floristry and her keen eye for design has earned her a stellar reputation in the Vermont wedding community. Learn more about her journey and the exquisite artistry she brings to life by reading below!

How did you get into wedding floral arrangements?

As a passionate gardener & botanical artist with a love of color and interesting textures, these were the initial hints to develop my floristry skills. Raised on the southeast coastline of Australia very remotely- the vast bushlands in my backyard, and huge cliff lines to the beach and ocean were my whole world as a child & becoming a florist was the only thing I knew how to do, it came very naturally and I’ve never looked back!

How would you describe your floral arrangement style?

Our tag line is simple, natural, and elegant- I would also add timeless. Trends come and go so regularly, and we try to stay true to our heart’s creativity, grounded in what I see when I walk through the natural woodlands in beautiful Vermont and my own flower garden.

What inspires your work?

I draw my inspiration from my beloved homeland Australia, daily walks in nature with my two ridgebacks, and my colorful flower garden in Warren, VT. I am also a botanical illustrator and landscape painter, sometimes the abstract nature of designing a painting creates the feel of a wedding floral palette too! My artistic worlds cross over in many ways- all with nature as the primal inspiration.  I’m always observing how plants grow, move, change and their colors. (Nature always puts the right colors together!) I avoid the online world as much as possible for inspiration.

Any special tips for couples for choosing/working with a wedding florist in general?

Find someone who is passionate about the natural world. Someone who knows flowers, their bloom cycles ,and their season,  as well as understands color theory. It’s also important to find someone who gives you all the time you need and will work with your budget. A strong social media presence doesn’t mean they are any better at what they do.  In short: Find someone who knows flowers, their seasons, and your budget!

What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?

Always, always, always meeting the bride in person for the first time and seeing her reaction to her bouquet… we are usually both crying with joy!

What’s your favorite thing to do in VT? / Local spot to visit?

All the magnificent natural trails and places to walk, the rivers and their swimming holes, the lakes and their secret spots away from the crowds to swim. I love to cook from our local farm CSA so don’t eat out much. (But my daughter and I adore Taco Gordo near our studio in the Old North End, Burlington!)

If you weren’t a wedding florist what would you do?

I’d be without doubt a full time book binder, botanical illustrator/ landscape painter! I take classes at all the Art Schools in Burlington weekly: Burlington City Arts, Shelburne Craft School and The Davis Studio are my favorites. The Studio Place Arts in Barre offers amazing bookbinding courses too.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

I love to dance with my daughter, and I adore surfing in Maine, Costa Rica and my country- Australia. I was raised in Bells Beach, Australia, other than my child and two ridgebacks, surfing is my greatest joy!

Modern Meets Traditional At This Mad River Valley Wedding

The captivating beauty of a summer wedding in Vermont never gets old. Especially when held at a beautiful private residence, creating a warm and intimate setting that instantly makes guests feel at home! Our team is excited to share with you all Kat and DJ’s beautiful Mad River Valley wedding. This special celebration was filled with timeless accents that blended seamlessly with modern touches, perfectly mirroring the unique style of the happy couple.  Continue reading for all the details and incredibly fun shots from Gold Wing Photography.

Exchanging Vows in the Comfort of Home

The charming setting for Kat and DJ’s special day was the family home of Kat’s parents, nestled in the verdant beauty of Vermont’s Mad River Valley. The couple’s photographer, Lillian of Gold Wing Photography, shared with us that she photographed Kat’s sister’s wedding in the same location just a few years prior. What a beautiful and full circle moment!

During the ceremony, emotions ran high with tears, singing, and laughter. In a moment of lightheartedness, the couple’s rings fell off their four-legged ring bearer, resulting in a comical search through the grass. (Don’t worry, the rings were found!)

The ceremony also included Greek traditions, like symbolic Stefana crowns, connected by a singular ribbon, representing Kat and DJ’s unity as a newly married couple.

Saying ‘I Do’ In Style

From the decor to outfits, the goal of a luxe yet timeless aesthetic was certainly achieved! Kat wore a modern gown by Chosen by Kyha, complete with fingerless gloves and a sleek bun. DJ was dressed to the nines with an ivory suit and black accessories.

After the ceremony, it was time for photos and we absolutely adore the vintage mustang! It adds such a fun detail to an already exciting day and you can tell Kat and DJ had a blast posing in it.

Inside the reception tent, guests were greeted with twinkling lights, luxe florals beautifully crafted by Heavenscent Floral Art and deep green and gold accents. After a quick outfit change, Kat and DJ took the dance floor as newlyweds with an upbeat first dance that got everyone up on their feet.

Amid dinner, friends and family rose one after another to honor the newlyweds with sincere and heartfelt toasts. Each oration was a glimpse into Kat and DJ’s journey, a cherished memory or anecdote, that reiterated the depth of their love for one another. When it came time for desserts, The Goose Chase Cake Design delighted everyone’s tastebuds with a delicious dessert table.

The core of Kat & DJ’s wedding celebration was undeniably the bond of family. The affection that exuded from each relative was contagious, infusing the entire celebration with unparalleled warmth. All generations, from grandparents to siblings and cousins, enthusiastically participated in the joyful occasion. A truly special day filled with love, laughter and lots of happy tears that is sure to be remembered for years to come!

It is also quick drive to other notable Vermont towns like Waterbury, Stowe and Montpelier for your guests to explore during your wedding weekend.

All The Sweet Details

Samuel and Courtney knew they wanted their day to be bright and timeless, so they turned to photographer Sean Hood to capture all the moments from their big day.

Surrounded by family and friends, the couple joyfully exchanged their vows at Sugarbush’s Gate House Lawn as their guests cheered them on. Their dog, Bodhi, even served a dual role as the ring bearer and best boy. (So cute!)

As the evening progressed, the newlyweds partied the night away with music from the band A House on Fire and with an epic karaoke session. Courtney even slipped into a chic reception outfit and sang her heart our to ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift. To keep guests fueled for an evening of dancing and fun Vermont staple, Ben & Jerry’s, served up ice cream complete with lots of sprinkles.

Congratulations, Samuel and Courtney!
