A Vintage Vermont Wedding at Bliss Ridge Farm

Today we’re showcasing all the enchanting details of a summer wedding at Bliss Ridge Farm. The bride, Nicole, generously shared every delightful moment of her special day with us, and we couldn’t be more excited to relay them to you. With its expansive fields and rustic allure, Bliss Ridge Farm provided a breathtaking backdrop for Nicole and Kyle’s vows, setting the scene for an unforgettable celebration. Every aspect, from the seasonal floral arrangements to the hand-picked vintage pieces, echoed the couple’s unique style and vision. From 'Just Friends' to Forever

Kyle and Nicole first crossed paths at an art school in Philadelphia, beginning their relationship as friends. Their circle of friends often remarked that they resembled an “old married couple,” and eventually, Kyle and Nicole realized it themselves! After finishing school, they spent some time living in Philly before relocating to New Jersey to be closer to family. The couple shares a deep affection for nature, art, and all things vintage. They own a charming 1947 vintage camper, affectionately named Daisy, which they take on weekend camping adventures. Their engagement took place at Opus 40 in Ulster County, New York, catching Nicole completely by surprise and leaving her truly speechless for the first time in her life.

Although Kyle and Nicole hail from the Tri State area, they have a special fondness for Vermont. Nicole has been visiting Vermont since she was a baby, spending time on her parents’ friend’s farm. This has made Vermont particularly meaningful to her and, now, to Kyle as well. When they began planning their wedding, they debated whether to stay closer to home or celebrate in Vermont, ultimately deciding that nowhere else would feel quite right. They made several trips to tour potential venues before discovering Bliss Ridge Farm in Moretown, Vermont just after Thanksgiving. During a snowstorm, they toured the farm with the owner, Jordan, whose warmth and charm made them realize they had found the perfect place for their wedding.

A Perfect Day Packed with Vintage and Meaningful Details

On the day of their wedding, Kyle and Nicole’s shared passion for vintage finds and antiques infused the wedding with a unique character. They dedicated time to sourcing second-hand tins and bowls, which served as charming centerpieces. As designers, Kyle and Nicole also brought their creative skills to the forefront, crafting all the lettering and signage themselves. (Just wait until you see the mailbox the couple created for guests to share cards, gifts or fill out vintage postcards with their top marriage advice!) This allowed them to create a cohesive brand for their special day, complete with a custom logo that tied all the elements together. Additionally, the couple aimed to make their special day as environmentally conscious as they could. Alongside souring second-hand items, they used local, in-season produce and flowers with the help of their florist, Jordan von Trapp. (Even Nicole’s wedding dress was pre-loved!)

It wasn’t until the morning of the wedding that Nicole realized she had never actually walked to the top of the meadow where the ceremony was being held. Because Nicole and Kyle’s initial visit had been during the snow, the breathtaking view was as much a surprise to Nicole as it was to guests—and it was absolutely worth it.

One of Nicole’s favorite moments from the day was getting on one of the horses. Having ridden horses since she was six, they are an integral part of her life. When Paul, the carriage owner, helped Nicole mount in her dress, it was a wonderful experience. (And everyone was laughing and joking, saying at least Nicole wasn’t a runaway bride!)

The wedding reception took place in the expansive, charming barn of Bliss Ridge Farm, adorned elegantly with string lights and sheer drapes. Guests had the opportunity to dance to the beats of DJ Cre8, unwind with a game of pool, or capture memories in the Liberty Belle photobooth. Given that all their guests were traveling to join the celebration, Nicole and Kyle aimed to make it feel more like a family reunion than a “traditional” wedding. There was an abundance of food thanks to The Hindquarter, a cool temporary tattoo station, lawn games such as cornhole, and horse-drawn wagon rides. The primary objective was for everyone to unwind and have fun.

To delight their guests with delectable desserts, Kyle and Nicole turned to Vermont wedding baker The Goose Chase Cake Design for a mouthwatering array of cakes, tarts, and other confections. Additionally, Shy Guy Gelato was present, offering cool, fresh gelato to refresh everyone’s palate.

Nicole and Kyle celebrated their wedding day in a way that perfectly reflected their unique personalities and shared passions. Our top advice for couples planning their big day is to make it personal and meaningful to you.
