Vermont Wedding Venue Spotlight: Mount Ellen Lodge at Sugarbush Resort
Sugarbush Resort in Vermont’s Mad River Valley offers couples a wealth of ceremony and reception venues spread across a stunning mountain backdrop. With options ranging from mountaintop terraces to elegant indoor ballrooms, there’s ample space to host events of every scale and style.
One of the resort’s standout new additions is the Mount Ellen Lodge, a vintage Vermont ski lodge that’s been recently renovated to accommodate 50–150 seated guests (or up to 200 standing). This space is ideal not only for the wedding ceremony and reception but also for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, or casual cocktail hours.It’s already become a beloved setting for couples like Julia and Charlie, whose unforgettable winter wedding celebration is featured below. Snowy Slopes, Shimmering Style, and So Much Love
Julia and Charlie’s wedding weekend began in a perfectly Vermont fashion… on the slopes! After spending the night with friends and family in the Lodge at Lincoln Peak, the couple stepped outside dressed to the nines for their last ski session together before their upcoming ceremony. Julia donned a stunning disco helmet with a white set complete with fur and fringe, while Charlie rode down the mountain in a sleek black blazer, both a nod to their spectacular wedding outfits, the guests would soon have the honor of seeing.
The next morning, the couple and their loved ones gathered together for a welcome reception at Mad River Glen. The rustic space was filled with laughter and mimosas as Charlie and Julia prepared for their big day. Following the joy and good company at the welcome reception, Julia, Charlie, and their guests migrated to Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen Lodge for the upcoming ceremony.
Julia walked down the aisle beautifully in pearls, fringe, and feathers, as smiles and support from her family surrounded her. The couple shared their vows and kissed under sweet greenery and draping linen beautifully crafted by Vermont wedding florist, Heavenscent Floral Art, and were engulfed with loving applause from all corners of the room.
Following the beautiful ceremony, the group joined together for cake, cocktails, and speeches all under a big shining disco ball, which the couple brought themselves, of course! After numerous heartfelt toasts from guests, Julia and Charlie cut their cake together, kicking off the evening. After the couple shared their first dance together, everyone took to the dance floor ready to party! Glow necklaces, party hats of all sorts, and even custom temporary tattoos of the couple’s faces filled the dance floor. Vermont wedding photographer Brianna Duquet perfectly captured the playful spirit of the evening, shedding a spotlight on the night’s many dancing kings and queens.
