From Freshman Year to Forever
Haley and Dan’s story started during their freshman year at the University of Vermont, where they quickly became close friends. By senior year, their friendship blossomed into something more, setting the stage for the lifelong partnership they celebrated on their wedding day.
Dan’s proposal was as thoughtful as their relationship, perfectly timed during a family trip to Costa Rica. With the sunset painting the sky and their favorite song, ‘You’re Still the One’, by Shania Twain playing softly, Dan dropped to one knee on a boat cruise—a moment as romantic as it was unforgettable!
All The Details of This Picture-Perfect Wedding Day
One of the most amazing things about Haley and Dan’s wedding? It all came together in just three months! (Yep, you read that right—planning a Vermont wedding in such a short time is totally doable!) A big reason for this is that the couple enlisted the help of Vermont wedding planner Kaylen of Sara Judith Events. The trio, along with the staff at Tälta, worked together to bring the couple’s big-day vision to life.
For Haley and Dan, choosing Tälta Lodge as their wedding venue was an easy decision. Nestled in the heart of Stowe, Tälta offered a cozy, backyard feel while also serving as a weekend retreat for their loved ones. Guests could stay on-site, allowing everyone to spend more quality time together. Add in the picturesque river flowing through the property, and it was everything they envisioned for their big day!
To ensure every moment of their wedding was perfectly captured, Haley and Dan enlisted Zach Griswold Photography and Matt from Beyond Bliss Films. The couple’s wedding day began with special moments spent with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Haley and her bridal party, dressed in mismatched green satin gowns, enjoyed getting ready together as Sarah Speer worked her magic on hair and makeup.
Haley and Dan chose to have their first look by the river, a peaceful and secluded spot where they could share a quiet moment before the excitement of the day unfolded. (They also popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate their last moment together before officially becoming Mr. and Mrs!)
A Heartfelt Ceremony with a Surprise Performance to Remember
With rentals from Sperry Tents Seacoast, Tälta’s ceremony location was transformed into a cozy and inviting space for guests. Lush, abundant blooms by Blomma Flicka stole the spotlight, beautifully arranged as aisle décor and in a whimsical arbor. A particularly moving moment during the ceremony was when Haley’s father recited an original poem as he walked her down the aisle—a heartfelt start to a day filled with meaningful touches.
Another personal touch that Haley pointed out as one of her favorite parts of the day was being able to pick her own flowers for her and her bridesmaid’s bouquets. A few days before the wedding, Haley’s sister, mom, grandmother, and Haley put the bouquets together. (A memory Haley told us that she will cherish forever!)
The sailcloth tent for the reception was beautifully adorned with string lights, basket pendant lighting, and lush greenery. Long farmhouse tables were elegantly styled with bud vases, an abundance of candles, and soft sage green napkins, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The couple’s first dance was unforgettable, featuring a dramatic flip that wowed everyone. However, the most exciting surprise of the day was for Dan. Haley surprised her husband with a performance of their song, “Looks Like We Made It” by Shania Twain, which added even more emotion and joy to the celebration!
That joyful energy carried into an epic dance party, with Vermont’s own Kat Wright delivering an extraordinary set. Guests were treated to mouthwatering dishes from Waterfront Caterer and indulgent desserts from Red Poppy Cakery, keeping everyone satisfied and energized throughout the celebration. The night concluded with an afterparty at Tälta and a cozy bonfire by the river, stretching into the early hours of the morning.
From the breathtaking setting to the thoughtful details and joyful celebration, Haley and Dan’s Talta Lodge wedding was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. It’s proof that, with the right people and a clear vision, even three months is plenty of time to create magic.
