Nick and Morgan chose to get married at Sheady Acres in Montgomery Center, Vermont in mid-July. Tucked away in the lush Green Mountains of the Northeast Kingdom, they thought it would be the perfect hidden gem for the wedding of their dreams. They were especially drawn to the five quaint and characteristically unique cottages on the property that could serve as accommodations for their wedding party and family. The natural beauty of the barn and the 25-acre property (that included a disc golf course, swimming hole, and hot tub) was everything they were looking for to complete their laid-back rustic summer wedding.

Their Blind First Look

Morgan and Nick wanted to stick with tradition and let their first glimpse of each other be at the wedding ceremony. Instead of a "First Look," the couple opted for a "Blind First Look" where (without peaking), the bride and groom held hands, exchanged personal notes, and even calmed each other down a bit. Nick's niece,  Kayleigh, joined in one the Blind First Look fun! Morgan remembers, "those rare, few moments alone were both emotional and special, and became one of our fondest wedding memories."

Still wanting to do a reveal of sorts, Morgan selected her dad to get the First Look of her in her before they headed to the ceremony. Her dad's reaction was priceless and sharing that particular moment was a highlight of the day.

Morgan did not follow all traditional wedding customs. Morgan chose both her parents to walk her down the aisle. Morgan's mom was delighted at her daughter's decision to break from tradition! It was all a surreal experience for Morgan, walking arm and arm with her mom and dad her gaze locked on Nick, "I saw him in a way I had not seen him before!"

As an ode to their Scottish and Irish heritage, the sounds of bagpiper Hazen Metro played "For the Love of a Princess" from the movie, Braveheart.

The couple chose Nick's father, a lifelong role model, to officiate, in order to keep the ceremony intimate and personal. They felt it necessary to show him how much they both looked up to him and highlight to all his charisma.

Montgomery Catering Company provided an incredible, one of a kind, Vermont cheese board served on a massive slab with a real live wood edge -- one of those details the guests continue to rave about!

The dessert bar by Nicole at North Country Cakes included the couple's favorites - chocolate chip cookies and lemon bars plus the traditional cupcakes and donuts. The handmade "LOVE" created from collected wine corks surrounded the delicacies on the dessert buffet.

At the reception in the barn, Nick and Morgan shared their first dance to "Wonderful, The Way I Feel" by My Morning Jacket. Several years ago, Morgan and Nick saw the band in concert and decided at that moment that it would be their first dance song.  The Josh Panda Party Band took over and kept the dance floor filled with high energy jams for the rest of the evening. Morgan had to ask the wedding coordinator to make more room for dancing as it was overflowing with dancing all night long!

The night was capped off with a breathtaking sunset captured expertly by Novella Photography. There was a star shining remarkably bright that night. After a little research, Morgan, and Nick learned that it was the planet Venus - the planet named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Simply kismet!
