This summer celebration at the Inn at Mountain View Farm was both a heartfelt gathering where two big, loving families came together for the first time in a setting that felt designed for connection and joy. A North East Kingdom Wedding Venue Rooted in Vermont Charm

Annie and Nick’s love story began in 2018, and from the start, Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom played a central role in their relationship. What began as family biking trips grew into shared memories of cross-country skiing, exploring trails, and bringing friends along to discover the charm of this region. Everyone who visited fell in love with the Kingdom, making it a natural and heartfelt choice for their wedding.

Though much of their story unfolded in Vermont, the proposal took place oceanside in Kittery, Maine. During a rainy morning beach walk, the couple dove into the frigid water, a tradition where neither emerges until both go under. When Annie surfaced, Nick was waiting with a ring in hand. She was so stunned (and so cold!) that her first response was “what?!”, a moment they now laugh about.

It wasn’t long into their planning that the couple discovered the beauty of the Inn at Mountain View Farm, a breathtaking 440-acre historic estate just three hours from Boston and two hours from Montreal. This beautiful Vermont wedding venue offers couples an unforgettable mix of sweeping mountain vistas and elegant country hospitality. For Annie and Nick, the venue also offered something more for their big day: space for everyone! Children could play outside, guests could wander at sunset, and the dance floor stayed full well into the night. It created the relaxed, inclusive atmosphere that defined the entire weekend!

Personal Touches at Every Turn

What made Annie and Nick’s wedding so special were the heartfelt, handmade contributions from their friends and family. Nearly every detail reflected the spirit of family,  from Nick’s cousins decorating the arbor to Annie’s mother crafting each name tag, her sister designing the florals, and Nick’s sisters filling the cannolis for dessert. A cousin even officiated the ceremony! These personal touches transformed the weekend into something deeply meaningful, a wedding built not just for the couple but by the people who love them most. (Even an unexpected close lightning strike the night before the wedding became part of the story, adding a dash of drama and good luck to the festivities!)

The day began with Shear Sensations getting everyone in the bridal party ready, setting a relaxed and joyful tone for the celebration ahead. The spacious ceremony site offered breathtaking mountain views framed by a beautifully decorated arbor filled with lush greenery. After heartfelt vows, guests enjoyed a leisurely walk over to cocktail hour, and even got an epic drone shot of everyone in attendance while they were at it! Guests had tons of delicious offerings from Willy’s Catering to snack on during cocktail hour, and then again at dinner before the festivities shifted into full gear. As evening fell,  wedding band A House on Fire took over and kept the dance floor packed all night, filling the celebration with movement and tons of energy. Guests flowed between the lively indoor dancing and the peaceful outdoor spaces as the sun slipped behind the mountains, a perfect balance to an already perfect weekend.

A Cozy Barnstead Inn Wedding Weekend

Paul was Allie’s first kiss when she was a freshman in high school, though it wasn’t until 2020 that they found their way back to each other, quickly realizing they were each other’s forever! When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple fell in love with Barnstead Inn in Manchester, Vermont. 

Barnstead Inn offers the perfect blend of modern farmhouse luxury and timeless Vermont charm, an idyllic setting for wedding weekends that feel intimate, warm, and wonderfully personal. This family-run inn features 23 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, each cozy with private baths, seasonal air conditioning, and heat. It’s the kind of place where guests immediately feel at home, and where every wedding becomes a multi-day celebration surrounded by people who matter most. 

A Morning of Joy and a Ceremony Steps Away

Paul and Allie’s wedding day, May 31, 2025, unfolded on one of the rainiest days Vermont had seen in ages. (Truly. Multiple Vermont wedding vendors have shared wild stories with me from that rain-soaked weekend!) Despite the downpour, Paul and Allie couldn’t have been more thankful for the vendors who rallied together to ensure their day ran smoothly and beautifully, rain or shine.

The morning began with Jenae Gunderlock MUA, working her magic. Allie looked flawless with a sleek low bun, and her bridesmaids wore soft, natural glam looks that beautifully complemented their sage green dresses. Allie then shared a heartfelt first look with her dad, one of the sweetest moments of the day!The couple’s ceremony took place conveniently across the street from the Barnstead Inn at Christ Our Savior Parish. Due to its proximity, guests and bridal party members enjoyed an easy and charming walk between venues. Andrea from the Barnstead Inn said her favorite moment was watching cars stop and honk in celebration as Allie crossed in her beautiful white dress. Beautiful flowers by Nancy Bishop Floral Design lined the church pews and complemented Allie’s bridal bouquet, creating a cohesive, garden-inspired look throughout the ceremony.

After being pronounced husband and wife, Allie and Paul spent time capturing portraits together and with their bridal party. Some of our favorite images from the day are from this moment (their huge smiles after dancing in the rain truly say it all!) They then headed inside for a few moody, intimate portraits before making their way to cocktail hour and the reception.

A Dance-All-Night Celebration

Inside the reception tent, every detail felt intentional and welcoming. Guests stepped into a space filled with paper lanterns, a chic checkerboard dance floor, and personal touches like custom matchbooks and beautifully printed menus. The Hindquarter served up mouthwatering dishes that paired perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere. Once the dance floor opened, the celebration took off. Guests partied straight through the night, and Cover Story Entertainment delivered the kind of energy that makes a wedding feel unforgettable. It was the ultimate party in every way!

Allie shared with us how grateful she was for the vendors who stepped up during the rainy weather. “Since our day was not exactly as I planned, they all came together and kept me calm and at ease. I recommend that all couples pick vendors they trust. I also cannot stress this enough. Our guests traveled from near and far to celebrate with us. Enjoy your wedding day with the people you love, because it goes fast, and sometimes those small details we spend months worrying about don’t end up mattering as much at the end of the day.”

An Engagement Session Filled With Heart: From Handmade Rings to Furry Friends

A Dreamy Woodstock, Vermont Engagement Shoot

To celebrate this season of their relationship, the couple chose to start their engagement shoot at Mt. Peg, one of Woodstock’s most scenic spots. They ventured up the trail and spent time at the summit soaking in panoramic views and quiet moments together, a nod to their shared love of exploring, adventuring, and experiencing the outdoors side-by-side. One of the sweetest elements of the day was the presence of the couple’s beloved dog. While unable to attend the wedding, their pup played a meaningful role in documenting their engagement, adding such joyful energy to the photos!

During the shoot, Marissa learned something unique about Kate’s engagement ring. More than a piece of jewelry, it was a handcrafted family heirloom made by her father, who has a personal tradition of creating rings for family weddings. (How special is that?!)

After finishing their time on Mt. Peg, Kate and Reece changed into a second outfit and continued exploring downtown Woodstock, an effortless next stop thanks to its close proximity and charm. From the iconic Middle Covered Bridge to cozy cafés, artisan boutiques, and farm-to-table restaurants, it’s the kind of place where an engagement session naturally flows into an unforgettable afternoon date. When planning their wedding, Elizabeth and Austin knew they wanted to make the most of Vermont’s long, golden summer days. They chose to say “I do” in June, intentionally aligning their celebration with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Symbolically, it marked not only the height of summer’s light but also the dawn of a new season in their lives together. There was no better place for such a bright and joy-filled day than Mountain Top Resort, a breathtaking property set on more than 700 acres of rolling meadows, serene forest, and sparkling lakefront. The Perfect Summer Solstice Ceremony

Elizabeth and Austin’s wedding colors were both breathtaking and extremely intentional, representing a sunset they witnessed together at Mountain Top Resort after a day of skiing. The sky’s dreamy mix of pale yellow, dusty blue, coral, and soft pink became the inspiration for their wedding palette, a nod to the breathtaking sunset they once admired at the very same resort. Bridesmaids donned flowy coral dresses beautifully contrasting against the vibrant greenery surrounding them, while the groom’s party stood joyfully in sweet navy blues. Florals from Meadows Edge at Mountain Top Resort truly tied the whole theme together, boasting gorgeous pastels with pops of pink and blue.

The couple’s ceremony was deeply personal, and served as an ode to Elizabeth’s Scottish heritage. The aisle was lined with plants from their local greenhouse, plants they later replanted in the yard of their new home, extending the memory of their vows into their everyday lives. Bagpipe tunes filled the air as the couple prepared to share their vows and first kiss together as a married couple. Against the mountain backdrop, the moment was rich with heritage, meaning, and natural beauty.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to a lively cocktail hour before moving indoors. Inside the event barn, every detail reflected Elizabeth and Austin’s thoughtful, lighthearted spirit. Guests sipped signature cocktails garnished with custom drink stirrers featuring the couple’s beloved dogs. A charming vintage mailbox served as their guest book, inviting friends and family to drop postcards filled with well-wishes and memories. On each table, creative photo prompts encouraged guests to snap candid moments throughout the evening, helping the newlyweds see their celebration through everyone’s eyes.

As the evening unfolded, Elizabeth and Austin joined their loved ones on the dance floor, surrounded by the warm glow of twinkling fairy lights. Laughter filled the air as Elizabeth donned a glittering white cowboy hat (the perfect bridal accessory for a night of nonstop dancing and celebration!) The energy was electric, with guests singing along and savoring every beat of the moment. When it came time for a sweet treat, Sisters of Anarchy Ice Cream delighted everyone with a build-your-own ice cream bar, serving up scoops as joyful as the day itself.

You might be surprised to learn that shopping for wedding bands often takes longer than expected! Most jewelers recommend starting your search several months before your wedding to allow time for browsing, sizing, and possible custom designs.

“The earlier the better,” says the team at Bella Lusso Jewelers. “Ideally, couples should start looking about six months before their wedding, and even up to a year in advance if they’re interested in a custom design. We advise no later than six weeks before the big day, since most sizes take three to six weeks to ship, and it’s always nice to have extra time to make adjustments if needed.”

This ensures your bands arrive on time and gives you space to relax and enjoy one of the most symbolic purchases you’ll make together.

Questions to Ask Before You Shop

Before you head to the jewelry store, it helps to think through a few key questions together. This can make the  wedding band shopping process smoother and help you find rings you’ll both love for years to come.

  1. What’s our budget?
     Before you start browsing, decide on a comfortable spending range. Wedding bands can vary widely in price depending on the metal, design, gemstones, or custom details.

     

  2. Do we want our bands to match or be unique?
    Some couples choose coordinating designs, while others pick rings that fit their personal styles. There’s no right or wrong answer; it’s all about what feels right for you.

     

  3. What kind of metal and finish do we prefer?
    Think about lifestyle and maintenance. Platinum is durable but heavier; gold offers warmth and timelessness; alternative metals provide a modern edge.

     

  4. How will the band pair with the engagement ring?
    If one or both of you wear engagement rings, bring them to your appointment to see how different band styles fit together, especially if you’re considering a curved or contoured band.

     

  5. Is comfort a priority?
    Spoiler alert: the answer here should be yes! So, try different widths, shapes, and fits. You’ll wear these rings every day, so comfort is just as important as appearance.

“Finding the right fit is all about coming in and trying on bands,” says the team at Bella Lusso Jewelers. “Thinking about style, metal, and budget is important, but ultimately, comfort and fit matter most. (After all, you’ll be wearing your rings every day, hopefully forever!) Bringing your engagement ring with you is key, especially for curved or contoured bands, or to see how straight bands pair with your setting.”

Caring for Your Wedding Bands

Your wedding bands are meant to last a lifetime and a little care goes a long way.

Most bands made with precious metals should be removed for working out, cleaning, swimming, and showering. Store them in a jewelry box, or safe place when not in use. Only use cleaners on your stones like mild dish soap, and avoid tooth paste, baking soda, and hard bristles. Alternative metal rings are stronger, but should be removed when lifting heavy, and in harsh environments as well. 

We always recommend regular inspections of your rings,” adds Bella Lusso. “Have your prongs checked to ensure your stones stay secure, and consider having your ring rhodium-plated and polished over time. It will make it look as sparkly as the day you said ‘I do!’”

Their adorable dog, dressed in a tiny tuxedo, stole hearts all night, right up until Anna’s outfit change into a strapless tulle dress perfect for dancing. A Proposal in Their Favorite Vermont Escape

Melissa and Zane’s connection with Manchester began long before their wedding day. The town has been their favorite escape from New York City, and it became the backdrop for their engagement on a rare, warm October afternoon. Zane found a picturesque, foliage-filled spot to propose, and the couple celebrated with an intimate evening at a local bar, exactly as they had envisioned. Manchester also holds a special place in their families’ hearts, from Zane’s mother’s 50th birthday at the Wilburton Inn to Melissa’s parents’ wedding at Equinox Resort. With so much history rooted in this town, it felt only natural to return for their own celebration!

Surrounded by vivid fall foliage and a sophisticated charm,Wilburton Inn served as the perfect wedding destination for Melissa and Zane’s autumn “I do.” Deep in Manchester Village, Vermont, The Wilburton is a truly majestic destination resort found on a 30-acre hilltop estate. Built in 1902, the venue boasts two turn-of-the-century mansions, vacation homes, romantic suites, and a marble celebration pavilion perfect for weddings.

Personal Touches That Made It Their Own

The wedding day began with getting ready, surrounded by loved ones in The Wilburton’s stunning estate. The bridal party was pampered by True Vermont Beauty and surrounded by all things pink, ruffly, and pretty. Meanwhile, Zane enjoyed some time to relax with friends (golden eye masks included) before donning his bow tie for the day ahead. Melissa wore a stunning beaded gown paired with sheer white gloves as the couple shared a first look in the Inn’s bar and stepped out onto the estate’s grand steps for photos with the stunning fall foliage. 

Guests gathered in a tent on the marble pavilion as the ceremony began. Despite the first truly cold and rainy day of fall, the atmosphere was warm with love and the help of the tent’s heaters. The space was designed to mirror the season’s energy: moody, autumnal tones with deep maroons and romantic reds, carried through the florals, taper candles, and linens. Instead of traditional tables, one long table ran the perimeter of the tent, fostering intimacy and connection. Melissa and Zane exchanged vows beneath a simple yet elegant chuppah draped with deep red velvet and vines, surrounded by beautiful florals from Bramble & Bloom, before sealing their marriage with a kiss.

The reception carried the couple’s playful spirit, from sunglass escort cards (that later made great props at the photobooth and dance floor!) to cocktail napkins featuring engagement photos. Our favorite detail? Heart-shaped cakes, complete with sweet messages on top, were baked by Sweet Birch Bakery and set on each table when it came time for dessert. Candlelight glowed as friends and family toasted the newlyweds, while Young Love & The Thrills filled the tent with music that had guests on their feet all night long.

Every detail reflected Melissa and Zane’s vision of a day that felt authentic, easy, and celebratory. Their talented team of vendors helped bring this dream to life, with The Wilburton going above and beyond to make them feel like family and ensure that the couple could be fully present. Meet Vermont Wedding Florist, Flora Vita

When passion blooms, beautiful things happen. After years of delighting couples with her sweet creations as a wedding baker, Jess recently followed her heart into a new chapter: founding Flora Vita, a Vermont wedding florist with a fresh, artistic perspective. Her pivot from cakes to flowers feels like a natural extension of her creativity. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Jess and share how Flora Vita is bringing whimsical, modern floral artistry to Vermont weddings.

How did you become a wedding florist?

I would describe my path into wedding florals as not linear; it was much more like a fork in the road.

For many years, I worked as a wedding baker, where I discovered my passion for weddings. While I was baking, I was also growing and nurturing my own cut flower garden, avidly growing flowers, perennials and doing floral work for my family. What abundant joy it gave me to cut an arrangement from my own backyard and have plenty to share with friends. I would deliver my baked goods to events and stare in awe at the florals. I always admired how they would really set the tone for the event. I would ask my floral friendors (friends + vendors!)  how they would execute certain installs, what flowers they would use, and where they would source blooms. I’ve always had a natural curiosity for nature, and especially flowers.

I knew I loved weddings, but eventually came to realize that baking may not be the best fit for me in the wedding industry. After spending some time learning and making connections in the floral industry, I launched Flora Vita, which re-ignited my creative energy.

How would you describe your style? 

I gravitate toward the style that best matches the tone of the event and the couple’s personal style. Personally, I prefer somewhat modern, whimsical floral styles, but love the look of something more classical too. I love to highlight in-season blooms, sourced locally if possible, as I feel like highlighting Vermont’s inherent beauty is important.

What inspires your work?

The beauty of this state during all seasons, but especially those seasons when we can grow flowers. I am drawn toward flowers that I love growing myself – spring anemones, ranunculus and peonies, summer cosmos, zinnias, snapdragons, and of course dahlias – which happen to be my favorite flower.

The couple’s story and personality help inspire what I create. Is there a favorite bloom they share? Is nature a big part of their love story? Did parents or grandparents have a beautiful garden that helped shape the couple? It’s important to consider and be inspired by the couple’s story.

Any special tips for couples for choosing or working with a wedding florist?

First, have an idea of budget; we work with most budgets, but having a budget can help us craft our design for your event and help us both have realistic expectations for your floral design.

Make sure you review your florist’s portfolio and website, and their designs resonate with you. A discovery call is important as well, as you can make sure your florist’s personality fits with your event vision.

Have an idea of what you might be looking for! Save photos of designs you like, or color palettes. Is there a particular bloom you really love? Or one you don’t like at all? Share all the details with you florist so we can craft the event that you’ve always dreamed of.

If you weren’t a wedding professional, what would you do?

I’d probably be a full-time flower grower. I do really love growing, but I feel like I’d miss weddings and couples too much if I were just a grower.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

I am really in to weight lifting! While it makes me able to work strenuous events, I enjoy lifting heavy at my local gym and getting as strong as I possibly can. It’s a great, healthy hobby.

A Summer Vineyard Wedding Overflowing with Joy in Vermont

Gaby and Ian wanted three things when it came to their wedding: mountain views, a waterfront location, and the shining summer sun. The happy couple experienced all of this magic and more at the stunning Snow Farm Vineyard & Winery in South Hero, Vermont, this past summer. From creemees at the welcome party to Ben & Jerry’s at the reception, their weekend was filled with charm, joy, and plenty of Vermont flavor. Let’s take a closer look at their incredible day below!

From Summer Camp to “I Do” in Vermont

Gaby and Ian met working at summer camp in New Hampshire in 2019, and the rest, as they say, was history. Ian grew up in Saint Johnsbury, and the pair would visit Burlington on their days off from camp. Gaby quickly fell in love with Vermont through their travels, and it only felt natural to host their special day in the very same state! Returning “home” to New England for their summer wedding felt just right.

The couple’s wedding festivities began the night before with their welcome party, where guests discovered their newest obsession… creemees! Palmer Lane Maple’s truck served them up while Vermont Picnic Paradise wowed everyone with charcuterie cups and a stunning display. The Mexican Fiesta theme, hosted at a private residence in Williston, was bursting with vibrant décor. Many guests stayed at the beautiful Essex Resort & Spa, soaking in that quintessential New England charm, and took time before and after the wedding to explore other areas of Vermont and the New England coast. (A few guests even ventured out to Montreal and Quebec City!)

A Perfect Vineyard Wedding in South Hero

The next day, the celebration continued in South Hero, where Snow Farm Vineyard proved to be the perfect setting and checked all the boxes for the couple’s dream wedding. The day couldn’t have been more perfect: sunny skies, a gentle lake breeze, and not a drop of rain in sight. In true wedding-day fashion, Gaby’s morning began with a little bit of chaos; a forgotten makeup brush bag meant a quick rescue trip to Sephora at Kohl’s. Meanwhile, her father, Arturo, spent the early hours fishing off the dock at Snow Farm Vineyard instead of building the ceremony arch. It captured what so many couples can relate to: wedding day moments that are a little unpredictable, a little lighthearted, but always unforgettable and wrapped in love.

Gaby and Ian worked with Vermont wedding planner Carly of Three Hearts Studio to ensure their day unfolded seamlessly. Carly offered steady support every step of the way. Since the couple lived out of state and were traveling across the country, they were especially grateful for her willingness to store luggage and receive packages in the weeks leading up to the celebration.

Natalie Rutherford Photography beautifully captured every detail of the celebration. To complement the photography, the couple also brought on Sterling Films as their videographer and Parasol Collective as their wedding day content creator, offering two unique ways to relive their day. Golden Hour, Sweet Treats, and a Dance Floor to Remember

Prosecco flowed all day, laughter echoed across the vineyard, and love filled the air as the couple shared their first kiss as a married couple. The bridal party stood proudly behind, looking absolutely radiant in shades of pinks and floral prints, with the groomsmen sharp in navy suits. (Guests embraced the couple’s “New England Chic” dress code perfectly!)

The reception was nothing short of unforgettable. From outside the tent, DJ Mike 802 had the party sounding like a full-blown concert, friends sang every lyric at the top of their lungs, and the dance floor never slowed down. One of Gaby and Ian’s highlights from their day was sneaking away for sunset photos just as “Pink Pony Club” came on. The cheers and voices pouring out of the tent were so loud it felt as if Chappell Roan herself was performing live. That golden-hour escape gave the couple some of their favorite photos from the day.

A pearl-adorned cake from Em’s Cakery, filled with lemon and fruit and crafted gluten- and dairy-free, impressed everyone. In true Vermont fashion, Ben & Jerry’s rolled in to serve ice cream later in the evening, ending the day on a sweet note.

The Sweetest Keepsake: Turning a Wedding Bouquet into Perfume

Although Gaby and Ian celebrated their big day earlier this summer, Gaby’s thrilled to keep reminiscing, not just through photos and videos, but in a truly unique way. Gaby has been working with Sarah of Vermont’s Bloom Lab to preserve her bouquet as a custom botanical perfume. 

The process began six months before Gaby’s wedding, when her love of sweet, floral, and fruity scents inspired the creation of this bespoke fragrance. The fragrance begins with a burst of bright citrus, fresh and playful, before soft notes of marshmallow and spun sugar add a cozy, candy-like sweetness. At the heart, peonies from Gaby’s bridal bouquet shine through, bringing a romantic touch. A hint of osmanthus rounds it out with a warm apricot richness. Just a few months after her celebration, the finished eau de parfum arrived at her doorstep, a timeless keepsake of the day!

Basin Harbor: The Perfect Backdrop for a Vermont Wedding

Set on the shores of the stunning Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor Resort & Boat Club is a beautiful place to gather friends and family for a wedding. From charming accommodations, blooming gardens, to lakeside lawns, Nick and Alice were sure to take advantage of all that this spectacular Vermont wedding venue has to offer. As a University of Vermont grad herself, choosing a venue in the Green Mountain State was the obvious choice for Alice, and the Lake Champlain views at Basin Harbor brought back all of the nostalgia and truly felt like home.

Basin Harbor Resort is known for its multi-day wedding weekends, including rehearsal dinners, welcome receptions, farewell brunches, and offers lots of recreational things for guests (boat cruises, lawn games, waterfront fun) to make wedding celebrations more like an elevated family reunion than just a one-day event.

A Beautiful Day Packed With Adirondack Touches

The day started with Vermont Bridal Beauty styling Alice’s hair into a soft, elegant updo, while a playful pop of lipstick tied her natural look seamlessly to her vibrant bouquet. (Oh, and her manicure! Just wait until you see the photos.)

Alice and Nick exchanged vows at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Vergennes, a beautiful and historic setting for their ceremony. Just 8 minutes down the road was the couple’s cocktail hour back at Basin Harbor, and it was brimming with beautiful touches. In Vermont fashion, the couple’s seating chart and napkins for the day, crafted by Clover and Crane, featured countless Adirondack chairs in varying colors. Two identical miniature chairs could even be found atop the wedding cake. Every detail was effortlessly added to the cozy charm of the day, brimming with intention and detail that all could see. 

Alice and Nick spent their day enjoying cocktails by the shimmering waterfront and dancing the night away in Basin Harbor’s Terrace Room. The Terrace Room boasts stunning lakeside and garden views. The space truly came to life thanks to the venue’s striking pillars, which provided the perfect canvas for design. Pops of bold pink blooms and trailing greenery from A Blooming Affair added just the right amount of color and texture.

Live music by Soul Session Band radiated throughout the space and kept guests on the dance floor all night long. Alice’s outfit change for the reception served as a lively highlight of the night as she slipped out of her sophisticated ceremony gown and into a shiny silver dress and floral glasses. This occasion truly called for sequins, fringe, and flair!

A Magical Fall Elopement in Vermont’s North East Kingdom

We can’t help but love a couple who embrace the absolute magic of peak foliage season, and what better place to experience all things autumn than Vermont! Nestled in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, the Lake Salem Waterfront Estate served as the perfect location for Kate and Max to host their intimate family elopement surrounded by the changing colors of the season. The couple planned a day absolutely filled with their favorite things, from a custom-made pearl necklace from the father of the groom to a fully catered dinner celebration with their immediate family. Every moment of this elopement was brimming with joy and Vermont’s stunning beauty! A Day Framed by Warmth, Laughter, and Loved Ones

Kate and Max began their wedding day getting ready at the estate. While half the group spent time getting their hair and makeup done by Beauty by Tammy and Beauty by Bri, the other family members helped to set up decor, create a beautiful charcuterie board, and make cocktails for the day. Kate looked absolutely stunning in a long white gown paired with a delicate pair of long lace gloves and kitten heels, while Max donned a gorgeous dark blue suit and floral tie.

The couple chose to share a first look before their ceremony under a beautifully bright and lush patch of trees. In all of the excitement, Kate disregarded the classic first look “shoulder touch” and ran to Max to hold his hands and share a special kiss. Max, Kate, and their family members were absolutely surrounded by autumnal florals, sweet pumpkin bunches, and laughter as they headed to their ceremony in the backyard of the estate by the lake.

Kate’s sister opened the ceremony as the flower girl, scattering fresh rose petals along the way. Moments later, the soon-to-be newlyweds made their entrance, joining a circle of cozy benches and chairs brimming with their loved ones. Max’s parents and Kate’s grandmother shared thoughtful readings, and a regal blue heron even made an appearance to join in on the celebration as Max and Kate shared their first kiss as a married couple. Following the intimate ceremony, the couple and their family posed for group portraits taken by Hazelton Creative in the backyard, catching glamour shots of all the couples.

After a day filled with love and excitement, Kate and Max ventured out 20 minutes from the estate with their photographer Danielle to Westmore, Vermont to capture sunset portraits at Sentinel Rock. The sun setting over the absolutely majestic mountains served as the perfect backdrop for the couple’s just-married portraits! They even got a hearty congratulations from a couple watching the sunset from their car in the nearby parking lot. To end the day, Kate and Max wandered down to the South Beach at Lake Willoughby to catch blue hour together along the waterfront, lanterns in hand.

Friends and family were deeply involved, from flowers and décor to baking the cake, truly creating a wedding that overflowed with love and intention.

A Wedding Weekend Full of Effortless, Outdoorsy Chic Vibes

Tamar and Ross’ wedding weekend began with a welcome bonfire, which allowed friends and family to enjoy the property in full. Even the couple’s dog, Doobie, got to join in the fun, roaming the open fields and soaking up the celebration. Having space for everyone to gather, and the flexibility to truly live on the property for the weekend, made the experience deeply personal.

On the wedding day itself, the flow was seamless, thanks to the attentive support of owners Jena and Tom, who helped coordinate and ensure everything ran smoothly. Tamar used the venue’s great room as a central hub for wedding morning preparations: styling flowers, finalizing décor, and getting ready with hair and makeup. She wore a chic short dress paired with an embroidered veil, and her shoes echoed the floral details for a playful touch.

Ross waited in the gardens, dressed to the nines in a classic black suit. The couple shared an intimate first look, savoring a few quiet moments together before their ceremony in front of their closest loved ones. Nearly every element of the day was handmade or handpicked by Tamar and Ross. Tamar even crocheted a tiny kippah for their dog, Doobie, who proudly walked in the Jewish ceremony wearing his custom headpiece and a floral-adorned harness. The two exchanged vows beneath a beautifully adorned chuppah, and the ceremony concluded with the joyful breaking of the glass, met with cheers of “Mazel Tov!” from their guests.

At the reception tent, skiing, snowboarding, and the couple’s love for Vermont took center stage in the décor. Tamar hand-painted table settings inspired by Vermont ski resorts, and the seating chart was a show-stopper: a snowboard backdrop with gondolas marking each table. Whimsical, adventurous, and full of heart, it couldn’t have been a truer reflection of who they are! Thrifted champagne flutes, carefully collected with guests in mind, served as meaningful keepsakes. Just Jess Bartending greeted everyone with champagne served in those eclectic thrifted glasses, while Trail Break Taps + Tacos dished out a feast of delicious eats. As the night went on, DJ Vinyl One kept the dance floor packed, ensuring the celebration stayed lively from the first song to the last.

One of the most cherished moments of the day came when the couple slipped away for a private rowboat ride on the pond. It was a rare chance to pause and take in the day together, while also capturing some unforgettable photos. (It’s giving us major The Notebook vibes!)

The next day, the weekend wrapped up with one final adventure: a joyful jump into the pond during cleanup; a truly perfect way to mark the end of a wedding weekend that felt true to who they are. Congratulations, Tamar and Ross, on your beautiful day!

An Engagement Adventure in Barnard, VT

Hallie Jade Pictures captured it all beautifully as the couple romped around some of Barnard’s most magical spots. Tyler and Ashley (and their sweet pup!)  wandered through some of Barnard’s most beloved spots, like the Barnard General Store, strolling down Tower Road, soaking in the charm of Twin Farms, and ending in the water at Silver Lake State Park.

Though Tyler and Ashley currently live in North Carolina, their hearts are tied to Vermont. Next August, they’ll be returning here to celebrate their wedding at a grandmother’s lake house in Barnard, a place filled with family history and meaning. This session was the perfect way to begin their Vermont wedding story, blending past memories with their future together. An Unexpected Matchmaker

It all started with a confident little dog named Tommy. More interested in being petted than matchmaking, he strutted up to Andrea at the dog park and instantly won her heart. For months, Andrea showered Tommy with affection, not realizing his owner, Mike, was also someone special. Eventually, Andrea noticed Mike, and their casual conversations soon blossomed into a deeper connection. With a shared love of adventure, animals, and the mountains, their friendship grew into something more, and it was only fitting that their wedding day reflected that same warmth and intimacy.

Mike had attended school in Vermont, and throughout their relationship, he and Andrea spent countless trips exploring its natural beauty together. Choosing to get married in the heart of the Green Mountains felt like the perfect tribute to their shared adventures. Though they now call Massachusetts home, Vermont was the ideal destination to bring their closest family and friends together. When they discovered The Ponds at Bolton Valley during their venue search, it felt instantly right, and the rest was history.

A Forecast Full of Love

Andrea and Mike kicked off their wedding day by getting ready with their family and friends. Andrea’s hair was styled by Beauty Artistry by Natalia, and her makeup was beautifully done by Tiffany Martin, creating a timeless bridal look. Her bridesmaids wore elegant blue dresses that perfectly complemented the groomsmen’s matching bow ties, tying the wedding party’s style together seamlessly. 

Although the couple had originally envisioned an outdoor celebration surrounded by wildflowers, Vermont’s weather had other plans. Luckily, The Ponds at Bolton Valley has a beautiful rain plan; transforming the reception space also into an indoor ceremony space. A bit of rain, rather than dampening spirits, added to the cozy and romantic atmosphere! Embracing the shift with grace, Andrea and Mike created a celebration that was every bit as beautiful, proof that sometimes the unexpected can make a wedding day even more memorable.

From whimsical florals by Zofia Floral & Design Co. to soft draping and twinkling string lights, Andrea and Mike’s wedding was bursting with color and life. Andrea carried a gorgeous bridal bouquet overflowing with vibrant blooms, while Mike and the groomsmen wore coordinating boutonnieres that tied the look together. At the ceremony, a stunning floral arch became the focal point in front of the venue’s rustic fireplace. Together with the glowing ambiance of the lights, the design struck the perfect balance.

In a beautiful stroke of luck, the rain let up following the ceremony, just long enough for wedding photographer, Jessica Leigh Photography, to capture portraits outside, allowing the gorgeous Vermont landscape to be a part of Andrea and Mike’s special day. Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests joined together for a beautifully personalized reception. Andrea and Mike’s first dance was filled with cheers and celebration from their loved ones and kicked off the night in style. From a pawprint and pup-covered cake by Mangia Bella Bakery to an ice cream bar of the couple’s favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavors, the evening truly followed a thoughtful vision.

Devin and Jorge’s special day began at Blind Tiger in Burlington. The soon-to-be married couple got ready for their intimate elopement together, surrounded by the beautiful interiors of the historic hotel, originally built in 1881. Antique furnishings, high windows, and unique paintings surrounded Devin and Jorge as they shared their pre-ceremony champagne. Adding to the joy of the day, the couple was greeted with heartfelt congratulations from both fellow guests and Inn staff as they made their way through the morning. After getting ready, the couple headed downstairs to the Blind Tiger’s chic common area and then outside for stunning portraits captured by Vermont wedding photographer, Moriah of Moho Photo.

Stunning Views & Mountaintop Vows

After their slow morning at Blind Tiger, the couple headed to Mount Philo State Park, located just down Route 7 in Charlotte, Vermont.  Devin and Jorge looked effortlessly stylish in their complementary brown and green suits, each adorned with sweet boutonnieres by Vermont wedding florist Tipsy Tulip Designs. Standing before sweeping mountaintop views, they read carefully crafted, handwritten vows to one another. Their officiant, Greg Trulson, kept the mood light, prompting plenty of laughter throughout the ceremony. When it came time to exchange rings, the moment felt extra special: their bands paired perfectly with their matching initial tattoos, a subtle but meaningful symbol of their bond.

Surrounded by love and natural beauty, Devin and Jorge sealed their promises with their first kiss as a married couple, a joyful start to the next chapter of their lives together!  A gorgeous floral cake from Red Poppy Cakery awaited the couple after their ceremony, and Devin and Jorge captured countless memories on their film camera together.

This wedding at Sugarbush Resort is no exception, blending mountain fun with heartfelt moments. Let’s dive into the details of this beautiful, adventure-filled wedding weekend.

Snowy Slopes, Shimmering Style, and So Much Love

Julia and Charlie’s wedding weekend began in a perfectly Vermont fashion… on the slopes! After spending the night with friends and family in the Lodge at Lincoln Peak, the couple stepped outside dressed to the nines for their last ski session together before their upcoming ceremony. Julia donned a stunning disco helmet with a white set complete with fur and fringe, while Charlie rode down the mountain in a sleek black blazer, both a nod to their spectacular wedding outfits, the guests would soon have the honor of seeing.

The next morning, the couple and their loved ones gathered together for a welcome reception at Mad River Glen. The rustic space was filled with laughter and mimosas as Charlie and Julia prepared for their big day. Following the joy and good company at the welcome reception, Julia, Charlie, and their guests migrated to Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen Lodge for the upcoming ceremony. 

Julia walked down the aisle beautifully in pearls, fringe, and feathers, as smiles and support from her family surrounded her. The couple shared their vows and kissed under sweet greenery and draping linen beautifully crafted by Vermont wedding florist, Heavenscent Floral Art, and were engulfed with loving applause from all corners of the room.

Following the beautiful ceremony, the group joined together for cake, cocktails, and speeches all under a big shining disco ball, which the couple brought themselves, of course! After numerous heartfelt toasts from guests, Julia and Charlie cut their cake together, kicking off the evening. After the couple shared their first dance together, everyone took to the dance floor ready to party! Glow necklaces, party hats of all sorts, and even custom temporary tattoos of the couple’s faces filled the dance floor. Nestled deep in the rolling hills of Reading, Vermont, lies a hidden gem: Reading Farms Estate, a secluded and storied property that became the dream backdrop for Maria and Harrison’s autumn “I do.” With its grand brick farmhouse, European-style courtyard, and sweeping mountain views, the estate offered the perfect balance of old-world charm and modern luxury for this intimate, joyful celebration. A Love Story Rooted in Adventure

Maria and Harrison’s journey began thanks to mutual friends in Boston, where a simple introduction sparked something extraordinary. From their earliest dates, it was clear they shared a love for adventure, animals, and the great outdoors, often accompanied by their beloved dog, Hiro, and cat, Butters. That mutual passion led them up many trails, including one unforgettable hike in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. At the summit of Mount Jackson, Harrison got down on one knee and asked Maria to spend forever together, and she said an enthusiastic “yes!”

Celebrating Simply and Fully at Reading Farms Estate

Leading up to the wedding, the couple filled their weekend with meaningful moments. Maria gathered with close friends for lunch at Worthy Kitchen, while Harrison teed off with his crew at Fox Run Golf. Their welcome dinner at Harpoon Brewery Taproom and Beer Garden set the tone for a relaxed, joyful weekend filled with good food, laughter, and love.

On their wedding day, the couple met under Reading Farm Estate’s iconic 300-year-old maple alley. Given the time of year, all of the maple trees were a stunning gold color. Sunflowers, garden roses, and lavender added warmth and charm to Maria’s bouquet and fall-inspired décor, with accents of gold and neutral whites. 

In keeping with their intimate vision, Maria and Harrison chose not to have a traditional wedding party. This allowed for a more relaxed pace throughout the day and gave them space to fully enjoy the company of their guests and each other!

The couple’s reception took place in the estate’s beautifully converted barn, where loved ones gathered for a night of dancing and celebration. Memorable moments included Maria and her father swaying to Stevie Wonder’s “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” and Harrison sharing “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts with his mom. Instead of a grand exit, the couple danced the night away, soaking in every last second of their celebration. Kaitlyn and Daniel began their day separately, getting ready with loved ones in the resort’s convenient lakeside guest cottages. The couple’s lakeside ceremony was packed to the brim with smiling faces and happy tears as they were officially wed! Filled with Jewish wedding traditions and a gorgeous lakeside view, the celebration felt both deeply personal and beautifully scenic. From the signing of the ketubah to the joyful breaking of the glass, each moment was rich with meaning set against the calm waters and green hills of Lake Morey.

You can’t possibly have a wedding at a golf resort without a couple of references. Guests were kindly asked to “leave their mark” in the guest book sweetly illustrated with a Vermont-shaped graphic.  This reception was all about the thoughtful details, from a playful variety of appetizers to a stunning slate blue color scheme and gorgeous bud vases by Flower Power VT. Personalized touches were tucked into every corner, creating a celebration that felt unmistakably “them.” 

As the sun began to dip behind the mountains, the couple snuck away for a few golden hour portraits by the lake and the magic of the moment was undeniable! Congratulations, you’re married! (How exciting is that?!) Now that you’ve tied the knot, it’s time to tackle the name change process, that is, only if you’ve decided you want to change your last name.

If you’ve ever Googled ‘how to change my name after getting married in Vermont’, you’re not alone! While the hundreds of search results might seem daunting, Vermont Weddings is here to guide you through each step with ease. Let’s walk through the key documents you’ll need and the best timing for changing your name after getting married in the beautiful state of Vermont.

Before we dive in, a disclaimer: When it comes to destination weddings in the United States, Vermont ranks number two. That means many couples get married here but live elsewhere. If you’re one of them, the steps in this blog post may not fully apply to your situation. Be sure to check the name change requirements in your home state, as they can differ from Vermont’s.

Step 1. Obtain Certified Copies of Your Marriage Certificate

The first step in changing your name requires you to do something before your wedding, which is getting a marriage license. A marriage license provides the legal documentation for your marriage, which will help streamline the name change process after your big day.  Information on how to get a marriage license in the state of Vermont can be found here.

After your ceremony, your officiant will return the marriage certificate to the appropriate town clerk’s office, who then registers it. When you are ready to change your last name, you will need to get certified copies of your marriage certificate from the town clerk’s office where it was filed. These documents serve as legal proof of your new marital status and are required when updating your name across various records.

Step 2. Update Your Social Security Card

With a certified copy of your marriage certificate, it’s time to head to the Social Security Administration (SSA) to change your name on your Social Security card. Why? Because other agencies rely on SSA records as a form of identification. Think of the DMV or your passport, so this must be what is done next.

  1. Complete Form SS-5: The Application for a Social Security Card.
  2. Gather Required Documents:
    1. A Certified copy of your marriage certificate.
    2. Proof of identity (e.g., your current driver’s license or U.S. passport).​
    3. Proof of citizenship (e.g., your birth certificate or U.S. passport), if not previously established with the SSA.​
  3. Submit Your Application: You can mail your completed form and documents to your local SSA office or visit in person. Your new Social Security card, reflecting your updated name, should arrive in roughly 10 business days. ​

Step 3. Update Your Vermont Driver's License

After updating your Social Security card (wait at least 24-48 hours for the system to update), it’s time to visit the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to change your name on your driver’s license. You must update your license within 30 days of changing your name with the SSA.

  1. Complete the Correct Form: Fill out Form VL-040 and check “needs name changed” at the top. Bring this with you to the DMV.

  2. Bring Necessary Documents:

    1. Completed Form VL-040.

    2. Your current driver’s license.

    3. Certified copy of your marriage certificate.

    4. Certified SS card or receipt verifying the name change.
    5. Proof of your  current address

  3. Visit the DMV in Person: Name changes must be done in person at a DMV office.

  4. Pay the Fee: Replacing your valid driver’s license with one bearing your new name costs $20. (Enhanced licenses may have a different fee)

Step 4. Update Your Passport

If you’re traveling internationally soon, be mindful of your passport timing. Your name on travel reservations must match your passport exactly, so many couples choose to wait until after their honeymoon to start the name change process. Others opt to expedite their new passport (for an additional fee) to have it ready in time for upcoming trips.

Step 5. Notify Other Institutions

With your primary identification updated, you can then approach other organizations. Some examples of other places that you’ll need to change your name are:

  • Banks and Financial Institutions: Update your name on bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and investment accounts.​

  • Insurance Providers: Contact health, auto, home, and life insurance companies to update your policies.

  • Employers: Inform your HR department to update payroll, benefits, and company records.​

  • Utilities and Service Providers: Update your information with utility companies, subscription services, and any other relevant accounts.

  • Voter Registration: Update via Vermont’s online system or mail-in form to city/town clerk.

We love it when we can feel how personal a couple’s wedding day was, and Rebekah and Tyler’s celebration is a beautiful example of just that! From beautiful Converse hand-embroidered by the bride to DIY bouquets lovingly wrapped by friends and family, every detail of this fall wedding reflected their story and style. It was a day full of heartfelt moments, stunning scenery, and thoughtful touches that made it truly unforgettable. A Love Story Rooted in Family and Adventure

Rebekah and Tyler’s love story began thanks to a family connection, introduced by Rebekah’s brother, and the two quickly hit it off! Their relationship grew through shared adventures, and it was only fitting that Tyler proposed at the summit of Mount Washington after a romantic hike. When it came time to choose a wedding venue, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) Nature Center in Quechee felt like a natural fit for this adventure-loving couple.

The couple’s wedding day began with a heartfelt first look in the backyard of their church, beautifully captured by Hazelton Creative. Rebekah looked stunning in a strapless gown adorned with delicate beading, while Tyler looked sharp in a dark brown suit. Adding a deeply personal touch, Rebekah wore a necklace made with her grandmother’s engagement diamond, a cherished heirloom for a momentous occasion!

Their church ceremony was full of heartfelt emotion, with meaningful vows and prayers shared by loved ones. Sunlight streamed through the tall church windows, casting a golden glow that perfectly matched the warmth and love surrounding the couple.

Details That Delighted Guests All Night Long

Rebekah and Tyler’s wedding reception at one of VIN’s outdoor pavilions was nothing short of magical. With string lights twinkling overhead and the sounds of nature all around, guests gathered under the open sky to celebrate. A large illustrated tree served as a creative guest book, where loved ones signed their names along the branches. Guests were treated to a custom newspaper filled with fun details about the couple, along with a playful ad-lib game to fill out during the reception. As a sweet parting gift, everyone took home mini bottles of maple syrup. (perfectly sized and adorned with a doodle of Rebekah and Tyler!) These thoughtful touches added charm and personality to every part of the day.

In between dinner and dancing, guests were invited to explore all that the Vermont Institute of Natural Science has to offer, from up-close encounters with live bird exhibits to strolls along the Forest Canopy Walk and scenic trails hugging the Ottauquechee River and Quechee Gorge. 

For the reception, Rebekah changed into custom Converse sneakers she embroidered herself, paired with Darn Tough socks. One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening was a surprise mother-daughter dance to the Gilmore Girls theme song, a touching tribute to Rebekah’s close bond with her mom. Guests enjoyed a birch tree-inspired cake lovingly baked by family and friends, adding another personal touch to the celebration. And in classic Vermont fashion, Tyler capped off the night by downing an entire nip of maple syrup in one go—because really, what better way to celebrate?

First things first, what are some questions you should be asking a wedding photographer when you first meet them? Start with the basics. Ask about their availability, pricing, and what’s included in their packages. Then dive deeper: What’s their approach to capturing a wedding day? Have they worked at your venue before? How do they handle unexpected weather or timeline changes? Can you see full wedding galleries to get a sense of their storytelling style? And our biggest advice: ask yourselves, do you feel comfortable with them?
 
How far in advance should couples reach out to book their wedding photographer? 
 
“Once you have a date set, reach out to your preferred vendors. If you picked a date in prime season (June-October here in Vermont), reach out as soon as possible. If you are planning a prime Saturday in those months, and you have 6 months or less until your wedding, there is a good chance your first-choice vendors won’t be available. I am noticing this a lot lately. Lots of inquiries I am getting for dates this year have already been booked for at least the last 8 months or longer.” – K&E Photography
 
“I get booked more than a year in advance pretty often, so I’d say as soon as possible, especially if choosing a popular date. I also sometimes have openings just a few months out, so it never hurts to reach out if you are a last-minute planner or if you have a less popular date.” – Michael Tallman Photography
 
How do you help couples figure out if your photography style is right for them? 
 
“In my inquiry form, I ask what couples connect with most when looking at my work. Their answer gives me a really great idea of if they’re drawn to the parts of my work that I am leaning into as an artist and I’m not afraid to point couples in a different direction if it doesn’t quite feel right. And, if they don’t answer the question at all, that also says something. I also meet with couples before booking to chat, ask lots of questions about their vision for their final gallery and the story they want to tell, and make sure we’re a good fit.” – Allison Macy Photography
 
What do you wish more couples would ask during the booking process?
 
“I wish more couples would ask to see full galleries and not just go off what they see on someone’s website or social media, because that is always going to be the best of the best. I want them to be able to see a well-rounded, full gallery so that they know what to expect in the entirety of the photography experience. The craftsmanship is start to finish, paying attention to all the details of your entire day of your people, family, your details, getting inside your heads to know what is valuable to you to know what to preserve. “Couples should look for a photographer who makes them feel comfortable and truly seen. This person will be by your side for some of the most intimate, emotional moments of your day, so connection matters just as much as talent. A Beautiful Start to the Day at Snow Farm Vineyard

Victoria and Connor’s morning began with a buzz of excitement at the charming bed and breakfast on Snow Farm Vineyard’s property, where close family and friends gathered to get ready. Laughter echoed through the rooms as friends snapped Polaroids and captured sweet, behind-the-scenes memories. Amanda Sue Studios worked her magic with hair and makeup, creating natural looks that highlighted each person’s beauty. Each bridesmaid wore a velvet burgundy dress in the silhouette of their choice, perfect for fall and beautifully coordinated with the bouquets Victoria created!

Before the ceremony, Victoria and Connor shared a heartfelt first look, complete with private vows. The photos from this part of the day are so moving; it’s hard not to get misty-eyed seeing the raw joy and love between the pair!

The ceremony took place near the peaceful shores of Lake Champlain, with sweeping water views and the soft rustle of fall leaves setting the scene. Guests were seated on wooden benches, and cozy blankets were thoughtfully provided for anyone feeling the chill of the crisp autumn air. After saying “I do,” Victoria and Connor signed their marriage license and shared a sweet mini celebration with their closest family and friends. In true Vermont fashion, they then climbed aboard a tractor (yes, really!) for a joyful, scenic ride down the road to cocktail hour, smiling the whole way.

Comfort Food and Custom Cocktails to Kick Off the Night

Cocktail hour was a delicious affair, with guests mingling among the grape vines and soaking in the golden autumn light. The Roving Feast served up a mouthwatering spread, and one standout that had everyone talking was the poutine, a fun and cozy nod to Quebec’s most popular comfort food. To sip, guests chose from three signature cocktails: a refreshing strawberry basil margarita, a floral lavender bee’s knees, or a warm and classic maple old-fashioned. Being at a vineyard, of course, there was also local wine aplenty!

Just steps away, the reception tent welcomed guests with a warm and inviting glow. Twinkling string lights cast a romantic ambiance, while colorful bud vases filled with hand-arranged florals by Victoria herself added a personal and vibrant touch to each table. At the heart of the tent, a parquet dance floor promised a night of celebration and unforgettable dance moves. 

When guests needed to take a break from dancing, they made their way to a cozy fire pit, where Adirondack chairs and good conversation awaited. With Vermont’s crisp fall air settling in, it was the perfect spot to warm up and soak in the magic of the evening under the stars.

Weatherhead Hollow served as the perfect backdrop for the couple’s special day, effortlessly combining modern comforts with historic charm.

This dreamy venue specializes in bespoke weddings, only booking 12 weddings a year from May to October, with the intention of taking time to get to know the couples that book with them, along with their loved ones. Under Twinkling Lights – A Lively Reception to Remember

Back at the Hollow’s historic barn, twinkling lights, a statement chandelier, and tables lined with joyous friends and family surrounded the newly-wed couple. Following their first dance, beautifully photographed by Imagery by Todesco, Caitlyn and Conner hit the rustic wooden dance floor along with their guests.

Meet Vermont Wedding Florist, Lezlee, of Narrow Path Wedding & Event Flowers

When it comes to wedding florals that feel like they’ve bloomed straight out of a fairytale, Lezlee of Narrow Path is a true artist. Known for her whimsical, garden-inspired designs, Lezlee brings a thoughtful, creative approach to every wedding she touches. In this interview with us, she shares more about her floral design process, where she finds inspiration, and what couples should keep in mind when dreaming up their wedding day blooms!

How did you get into wedding floral arrangements?

I have always been obsessed with plants and flowers since I was little. After working for years in the horticulture industry, I decided it was time to branch out into floral design. After completing education and certification, I started Narrow Path, and have loved working with so many special couples all over the state of Vermont since 2020.

How would you describe your floral arrangement style?

Informal, whimsical, abundant, natural! I create unstructured floral pieces, often using paintings and sculpture to influence my designs.

What inspires your work?

I bring nature into my work. Using flowers from local farmers and suppliers, I love to create whimsical, flowing, and organic blooms for my couples’ weddings or events. Foraged materials are incorporated into everything we do, calling upon Vermont’s four seasons as inspiration.

Any special tips for couples for choosing/working with a wedding florist in general?

It’s important to feel a genuine rapport with all of your vendors. Definitely shop around looking at the floral styles created by the florists you are interested in. Create a Pinterest page that you can show to potential florists so they can quickly see your vision. First and foremost, though, create your wedding budget, allocating dollars for each part of your wedding, so you can share that information with your vendors. When you have chosen your florist, trust them to bring to life your dream day florals!

If you weren’t a wedding florist, what would you do?

I would still be around flowers in some way. I would be a flower farmer!

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

Here are two. I love mountain biking and dogs! My English bulldog, Nigel, is my constant companion in the studio…until he starts eating the plants.

I also sit on the Vermont Flower Show Committee and spend hundreds of hours with other landscapers and florists bringing this semi-annual show to life! We have 10,000 visitors attend from states all over the northeast and Canadian provinces.

Ever joked with your partner about running off to elope? Skipping the giant guest list, the complicated seating chart, and the endless to-do list? Same.

For my husband and me, what started as a half-serious “what if” turned into a very real decision—and the best one we made. We hit roadblocks at every turn, trying to plan a traditional 150-person wedding. But the moment we chose to downsize, everything just started falling into place. I mean, literally, venues, vendors, and even the vibe all aligned as soon as we let go of what we thought we were “supposed” to do.

What surprised me the most was that after we had our micro-wedding, how many people told me, “We wanted to do something smaller too, but didn’t listen to that little voice.” It turns out that a quiet nudge, the one saying “maybe we don’t want the big traditional thing,” is more common than you think.

Who Microweddings and Elopements Are Really For

My clients are the ones who trust their gut. They crave experiences over expectations. They aren’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers in the name of doing what feels right to them. Sometimes they’re local, but more often they’re planning a destination celebration here in Vermont, and they want it to feel intentional, joyful, and completely personal.

They don’t want a big, fancy wedding just because it’s “what everyone else does.” They want a day (or a weekend!) that actually reflects who they are as a couple.

Let’s Bust a Few Myths About Microweddings and Elopements

There are a few common assumptions about small weddings that just don’t hold up:

  1. “Elopements are just quick courthouse weddings.” Nope. Eloping can mean a mountaintop ceremony with a private chef dinner after. Or a multi-day rental with your closest people, spa time, and a candlelit dinner in the woods. Absolutely anything!
  2. “Small means simple, so you don’t need a planner.” Actually, the more personal and creative you get, the more helpful it is to have someone managing all the moving parts.
  3. “If it’s just a few people, it’s not really a celebration.” You’d be shocked at how lively, beautiful, and fun a 20-person dance party can be, especially when everyone there is your person.

One of the biggest misconceptions about elopements and intimate weddings is that you don’t need any vendors, but if you want the day to feel polished, relaxed, and truly special, having the right team makes all the difference. That said, not every vendor is a must for every couple; it really depends on your priorities and the kind of experience you’re dreaming of.

Here’s a breakdown of essential vs. optional vendors to consider:

Must-Haves (for most couples)

These are the folks who help make your celebration legally and logistically seamless:

  • Officiant – To legally marry you (or create a meaningful symbolic ceremony).

  • Photographer – To capture the story and emotion of your day, even if it’s just the two of you.

  • Planner or coordinator – Especially helpful if you’re using a nontraditional venue like a vacation rental or planning a multi-day experience for you and your guests.

Nice-to-Haves (depending on your vision)

These vendors help elevate your celebration and bring the full experience to life:

A Wedding Day That Felt Like Home in Lyndonville, Vermont

When it came time to plan their wedding, Natalie and Alex knew one thing: they wanted to keep it simple, personal, and true to them. The couple met in college while living in Boston, but when the pandemic turned the world upside down, they decided to move to Alex’s hometown in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. What started as a temporary return quickly became home…for good! Rather than choosing a single venue for the ceremony, photos, and reception, the couple embraced a more free-flowing day. The result? A meaningful celebration that proves your wedding can be whatever you want it to be.

The day began at Saint Elizabeth’s Church in Lyndonville, where Alex had grown up attending services. It was the perfect place for their ceremony, filled with nostalgia and family tradition. Natalie looked effortlessly elegant with soft, romantic waves styled by Beauty Artistry by Natalia and a natural, glowing makeup look by Revive Skin and Spa. The styling perfectly complemented her chic gown and romantic florals by Inch by Inch Permaculture. To complete the look, Natalie wore her mother’s earrings from her own wedding day, and Alex wore his father’s ring, subtle yet personal heirlooms that honored their families’ love stories. 

Portraits and an Intimate Dinner at a Historic Vermont Estate

After the ceremony, the couple, siblings and parents headed to The Inn at Burklyn, a historic estate nestled in the Northeast Kingdom, for portraits with their photographer, Kelsey of K&E Photography. The beauty of the Inn’s grounds provided a gorgeous backdrop for some of the day’s quietest, most elegant moments. Natalie and Alex explored the Inn at Burklyn’s beautiful grounds, posed with a slick getaway car, and then joined their immediate family members inside for a delicious and intimate dinner.

Later that evening, the celebration continued with a casual after-party at Natalie and Alex’s house. Surrounded by more friends and family, the couple shared their first dance, had some light fare (just wait until you see the epic grazing table!), and celebrated under the stars.

From ‘I Do’ to Dance Floor Moves: A Manchester Summer Celebration

Summers in Vermont can’t be beat, and this August wedding is proof. Between the warm mountain breeze, vibrant blooms, and a packed dance floor under the stars, this wedding had all the makings of an unforgettable day! Set at the hidden gem Barnstead Inn in Manchester, this couple said “I do” surrounded by their closest family and friends (and the prettiest blue color palette to boot). Every emotional moment, from teary vows to wild dance floor moves, was captured beautifully by Vermont wedding photographer Eaton Photo. (Trust me, you’re going to want to soak this one in!)

Rooted in Love, Grounded in Vermont

When it came time to plan their wedding, Dasi and Dan had no desire for an over-the-top celebration. Instead, they chose to focus on what mattered most to them: celebrating with their favorite people in a place that felt like home. Dan’s southern Vermont roots made Manchester the perfect setting and when they came across the Barnstead Inn, they new they had found “the one”! The Barnstead Inn offers a unique blend of modern farmhouse luxury and classic Vermont charm, as well as lodging making it an ideal setting for many couples who want ample quality time with their loved ones. Set on beautifully maintained grounds, and complete with flexible indoor and outdoor spaces it’s easy to tailor each wedding to reflect a couple’s style.

The Personal Touches That Made It Theirs

On the morning of their wedding, Dasi and Dan got ready separately. Dasi and her bridesmaids sipped mimosas while doing makeup together, sharing laughs and excitement. Their bridesmaid dresses were a standout detail: crisp white with a delicate blue toile-inspired pattern, with each bridesmaid choosing a silhouette that felt most like themselves. Dan and his groomsmen looked sharp in fresh suits, with Dan in a rich green and his crew in coordinating blues. As a thoughtful touch, Dan gifted each groomsman a personalized pocketknife. 

As guests started to arrive, they made their way to the ceremony site, a grassy area with beautiful mountain views. An acoustic guitar player set the scene with soft melodies that added to the intimate atmosphere. Nancy Bishop Floral Design brought Dan and Dasi’s floral vision to life with a seasonal palette of soft blues and whites. Dasi carried a delicate bouquet featuring calla lilies and wore a beautiful floral hairpiece that added a romantic touch. The couple’s ceremony arbor, crafted from birch and adorned with blooms, along with matching birch pedestals, created a natural, picturesque setting for their “I do’s!” 

After the ceremony, guests walked a few short steps to cocktail hour where they could mingle, congratulate the newlyweds and play lawn games like corn hole. One of the most delightful details of the day? The personalized glassware station. Before guests headed to the reception tent, they each selected their own unique, thrifted glass to use for the evening. (Such a fun, interactive moment that added both charm and practicality!) It was a simple idea that sparked conversation and gave everyone a little keepsake to remember Dan and Dasi’s special day by.

The reception tent glowed with twinkle lights, creating a warm and cozy ambiance. Tables were decorated in soft green linens and adorned with bud vases and custom dinner menus.  While the ceremony and dinner were full of emotion and happy tears, the energy shifted the minute the music kicked in thanks to lively wedding band, A House on Fire.  (We’re obsessed with all the photos Eaton Photo captured!) With a packed dance floor and nonstop good vibes, the night ended in exactly the way the couple hoped, with every guest smiling and dancing under the stars.

It’s a place where nature lovers can feel totally at home, and it served as the perfect backdrop for this couple’s romantic engagement session. Jessica and Tyler are the definition of laid-back love: carefree, spontaneous, and always up for an adventure. For their engagement session, they stumbled upon the VINS Center by chance, and it ended up being the perfect backdrop! Here are a few things to consider when choosing your outdoor engagement shoot location in Vermont:

Vermont’s landscape transforms dramatically with each season. Spring brings fresh greenery and blooming wildflowers; summer means lush forests and golden sunsets; fall is famous for fiery foliage; and winter offers dreamy snow-covered scenes. (For example, when I had my engagement shoot at Shelburne Farms, I had to fill out an application and pay a small photography fee.) It’s always a good idea to check ahead so you’re not caught off guard. And if you’re looking for a quieter shoot with minimal foot traffic, aim for a weekday or early morning session!

Let’s say you’re not sure where to have your photos done. If you have a special spot in Vermont that holds meaning, like the trail you first hiked together, a favorite ski slope, or the place you got engaged, that emotional connection will shine through in your photos and is a great place to start as you brainstorm!

Curious about how to book your wedding florist or what to ask before signing a contract? We asked some of Vermont’s top floral designers to walk us through their inquiry and booking process. Here’s what they shared.

How far in advance should couples book their florist, and what should they have prepared for the first consultation?

“Ideally, couples should book their florist 9-12 months in advance, especially for peak wedding seasons. For the first consultation, they should have a general budget range, inspiration images (even non-floral ones that capture their vibe), color preferences, and a rough idea of their venue setup. For 2026, we are seeing key dates book up over a year in advance so the sooner the better for reaching out.” – Honey Flora 

“The general advice is typically 6-9 months, which is great. However, there is no wrong answer here. We work with couples who are planning 2 years out and even 30 days out! I will say sooner is typically better, though. This gives us extra time to source unique blooms and vases for you.” – Tipsy Tulip Designs

Why is it important to have a floral budget in mind before booking?

“An accurate floral budget saves everyone a lot of time and adjusting! We have a range of offerings, from full service design, arrangement and delivery to our u-pick garden where parties can pick and source their own flowers. When we know your floral budget, we can provide the right offerings and style to a party’s vision!” – Snaps & Sunflowers

“Many flowers have different pricing based on the time of year. If you have a must-have flower or a certain look you are going for, knowing your budget can help us determine how we can best accommodate your dream vision without breaking the bank! I hate giving couples sticker shock, but it does happen, especially when couples go in without a budget ready. Flowers are often more expensive than couples expect, so going in without a budget (or a range) often leads to dream floral proposals that are out of reach.” – M’s Wedding Flowers

“A budget or range is always helpful. However, most couples who reach out to me are not familiar with the cost of wedding flowers and may not have an exact budget when we first meet. This is (usually) your first time ever working with a florist! So, I tell couples not to worry; it does not take long for me to present costs to them. Typically, I’ll use an outline that is itemized, and then we can decide what should be prioritized, according to what their top flowers are and where they will have the most impact for your wedding day.” – Flower Power VT

What factors influence the price of wedding flowers that couples might not realize?

“One major factor that can influence flower prices is seasonality, specifically, when a flower is out of season. If a couple has their heart set on a specific bloom that’s not currently in season, we often have to source it from international farms, which means higher shipping costs and limited availability. “Clients might not know that we survey our field and gardens a few times a day to pick the flowers at the exact right time. It is truly satisfying to work with the tiny seeds and plants. In the greenhouse, we watch them grow and evolve right into the event.  Certainly, our flower farm does a lot of weeding on our hands and knees, and has a relationship with each flower, watering and protecting it until blossom time.” – Flower Power VT

“Most people don’t realize how time-sensitive being a wedding florist is. We only have 3-5 days to get your flowers in, arrange them, and then set them up for your event. Typically, we work with more fragile and unique blooms for weddings and events compared to everyday blooms that you’d get for deliveries like birthday and congratulations bouquets. This means once we get your flowers on Wednesday for your Saturday wedding, we are working on your florals around the clock to ensure they are the freshest and perfectly opened on your wedding.” – Tipsy Tulip Designs

“Most impactful: the bridal bouquet, welcome sign/greeting table florals, ceremony florals (that can be moved and repurposed for a budget friendly piece), and guest reception table florals (even if they are not all the same, or super grand, the smallest touch of florals can add so much to a space! Skip: small boutonnieres, wrist corsages, very elaborate bridesmaid bouquets.” – Memory Lane Floral Designs 

“Centerpieces and statement pieces. These make such a big impact in transforming the space to be unique to the couple and their day. In terms of florals to skip, Boutonnieres. They are often lost in photos and crushed when being hugged. They are a very small detail that may not be needed if you’re looking to cut something out. Another one: bridesmaids’ bouquets. They are usually left on a table after photos to wither and dry out. Sometimes, a single stem with a bow can make a big impact for bridesmaids in your photos. Keeping them simple or reusing your bouquets at the bar, cake table, etc. can help lower costs as well.” – M’s Wedding Flowers

To have fun! It’s easy to get bogged down with all of the many details of planning a wedding. I like to remind my couples to remember to enjoy the experience every step of the way.

What is one of your favorite places to show people when looking at The Taconic?

The Terrace and The Green! The Terrace is my favorite venue because of its simplicity and versatility. And The Green, with the bistro lights above, is truly magical.

What do you love most about wedding planning?

I grew up in a social household that was often hosting events and always loved the energy (and anxiety) that came with it. Weddings are uniquely special to me because I love being the vehicle that drives an incredible experience that families and friends will cherish always. 

What makes Vermont a special destination for weddings?

Vermont has so much to offer for couples who are considering hosting their wedding here! The fresh, clean air is unbeatable! Whether lush and green in the summertime or radiantly gold and orange in autumn, the mountains in Vermont encapsulate the beauty of New England that guests travel for miles to experience.

Happy Campers: A Whimsical, Bright Wedding at Crofter’s Green

If you’ve ever dreamed of a wedding that feels like summer camp, but with an elevated, effortlessly stylish twist, Dan and Jay’s celebration at Crofter’s Green is everything you could imagine and more. Nestled in the quiet woods of Montgomery, Vermont, this secluded venue was the perfect backdrop for their joyful, nature-filled wedding weekend. Planned by the talented Meg Dews of I Dews Design & Events and captured beautifully by Isora Lithgow Creations, the day was a true reflection of Dan and Jay’s adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors.

About the Venue: Crofter’s Green

Tucked away on 25 scenic acres, Crofter’s Green offers a peaceful, customizable setting for a one-of-a-kind wedding weekend. With flexible ceremony locations, like a whimsical woodland site (more on that in the photos below!) to a scenic arbor on the green, couples can choose a spot that best reflects their vision. The property includes cozy cottages, each with its own theme, for up to 14 guests, plus options for glamping, camping, and nearby lodging to keep loved ones close. Guests can enjoy unique amenities like an outdoor hot tub, fire pit, and scenic trails, along with modern, all-gender luxury restrooms designed with comfort in mind. With an open vendor policy and an unhurried atmosphere, Crofter’s Green is a place where your love story and wedding day vision truly take center stage. 

A Personal Touch Around Every Corner

Dan and Jay’s wedding was held on a beautiful August day. The pair, and their wedding party, were perfectly in sync with the natural beauty of the day, dressed in soft blues and greens. The palette was a picturesque match for the vibrant Vermont backdrop: bluebird skies above and lush, rolling mountains.

Dan and Jay’s ceremony took place in the woods of Crofter’s Green. The couple exchanged vows beneath a handcrafted arbor and planted a tree together, a meaningful symbol of their growing life together.  During cocktail hour, guests were welcomed to a setting that felt like an upscale camp retreat: think pennant flags, signature cocktails, and even a vintage canoe filled with chilled drinks thanks to the thoughtful and expert touches of Vermont wedding planner, I Dews Design & Events.

One of the most heartfelt details of the day was the inclusion of the couple’s sweet dog, Benji. Not only did he make a picture-perfect appearance in photos, but he also inspired the couple’s wedding favors: “Benji’s Farmstand”, a setup brimming with local Vermont goodies like vanilla, granola, and small-batch sauces.

The reception took place inside Crofter’s Green’s cozy post-and-beam barn, where Dan and Jay’s playful camp theme continued in the most charming ways. Guests were welcomed with a large sign reading “Take a Hike (to Your Seat),” a cheeky nod to the hiking-inspired seating chart. Inside, string lights twinkled overhead, creating a warm, romantic glow. Tables were adorned with bud vases filled with vibrant blooms from Mila’s Flower Farm, paired with books the couple loved, some about the outdoors, others simply personal favorites. Felt pennant flags marked each table number, tying the whole look together with a sweet, nostalgic touch.

We also adore the guest book station, where a plethora of vintage postcards encouraged friends and family to write well wishes to the newlyweds. Jay and Dan’s celebration continued into the evening with a delicious meal from The Hindquarter, tons of dancing thanks to Green Mountain Entertainment, and a dessert spread lovingly prepared by Jay’s sister. 

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Dan and Jay snuck away with their photographer, Isora Lithgow Creations, to capture some stunning blue hour portraits. You’ve probably heard of golden hour, but blue hour, aka the twilight window just after sunset, is equally magical! The soft, moody light and deep blue sky created the perfect backdrop for some truly romantic shots.

Powder Day Perfection: A Winter Wedding at Jay Peak

Ah yes, spring in Vermont. It’s a season that sometimes feels like it doesn’t truly exist. One minute it’s sunny, the next it’s raining, maybe snowing… and yes, you can easily experience all four seasons in a single day! Before we jump headfirst into warmer wedding days filled with sunshine, lush greenery, and milder weather, we’re taking a walk down memory lane to one of the most epic winter weddings we’ve seen: Tricialyn and Dan’s snow-filled celebration at Jay Peak Resort, captured beautifully by husband-and-wife duo Love Wins Photography.

A Magical Day in the Heart of Vermont Winter

Dan, a lifelong ski racer from Whitetail Resort in Pennsylvania, and Tricialyn, who now calls Virginia home with Dan, brought their guests to the snowiest mountain in the East, Jay Peak,  just a few miles from the Canadian border and naturally right during a massive snowstorm! The catch? Most of their guests had no real interest in snow. (Surprise!) But that didn’t stop Dan, Tricialyn, and their friends and family from having the time of their lives.

The couple’s big day kicked off with getting ready with family and friends. Tricialyn’s stunning winter bridal look was created by Heather Garrow Studios, the perfect touch for a snowy celebration. Dan suited up with his groomsmen and took a shot before anxiously waiting for a first look. Tricialyn and Dan met at the Jay Peak Tram and then took a “victory lap” off the Metro Quad and into the snowy woods. The first look was so action-packed that Tricialyn had to re-do her hair after the adventure! Due to the epic amount of snow, Jay Peak Resort itself was sold out that day, packed with snowboarders and skiers eager to ride the storm. However, despite the crowds and the typical 30–40 minute wait for the iconic Jay Peak Tram, Tricialyn and Dan managed to sneak in bridal portraits, dress shots, and first look photos between tram runs, giving themselves just three minutes at a time to avoid holding up the line. (Talk about efficiency!) In true Jay Peak fashion, skiers waiting for the Tram couldn’t have been more excited to celebrate the couple’s big day and cheered them on without any impatience.

Frosty Forecast, Fiery Dance Floor

The newlyweds’ ceremony took place inside Jay Peak Resort’s cozy Haynes Room, where a bright, warm setting allowed guests to laugh, cry, and soak in every moment as snow continued to pile up outside the windows. From there, the celebration shifted into full-on party mode with a serious après-ski vibe, even if most guests never actually made it onto the mountain that day. Guests found their seats with the help of miniature skis, each one personalized with their name — a playful nod to the season and setting. As a sweet parting gift, everyone took home a bottle of pure Vermont maple syrup. The band kept the energy high all night long, filling the dance floor with joyful celebration. And in true après-ski fashion, the couple and their guests kept the party going with Shot-skis. (Is this just a Vermont thing? We sure hope not!)

As photographers Kim and Mike from Love Wins Photography put it: “Full-day wedding shoots typically feel like a day’s worth of backcountry touring for us. By the end of the day, our step counts are through the roof, and we’ve burned more calories than the rest of the week combined! Is it worth it? Always. We love what we do, and when we can help a hectic, sold-out powder day wedding run smoothly, such as Dan and Tricialyn’s, it feels extra rewarding!”

Winter in Vermont is absolutely beautiful, but it truly is a beast of its own. When planning a winter wedding, flexibility is key. Have a photo plan that includes both outdoor and indoor options, snowy mountain portraits are magical, but you’ll want a cozy backup space just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Renting clear umbrellas is a smart move too (some photographers even have them on hand!), so you’re ready for anything from gentle flurries to full-on snow showers. It’s also essential to work with vendors who are experienced with winter events; they’ll know how to adapt quickly if conditions change. Keep in mind that Vermont weather can shift fast — so intense storms, freezing temperatures, or high winds might mean moving your ceremony indoors, even if you originally dreamed of saying “I do” outside. Being open to last-minute changes will help you stay relaxed and truly enjoy your day, no matter what Mother Nature has in store.

Communicate Clearly with Guests

To help everyone enjoy the weekend, consider including a few packing tips in your invitations, on your wedding website, or in a welcome email. Encourage guests to bring practical winter gear like sturdy boots, warm coats, gloves, hats, and plenty of layers. You might even suggest hand warmers or traction cleats for extra snowy or icy conditions. Trust us: guests will appreciate the heads-up, and it’ll make their entire experience smoother, safer, and way more fun.

Keep Everyone Cozy

Incorporate winter comforts like hot drink stations (hot cocoa or a Hot Toddy, anyone?!), cozy lounges with blankets, and indoor spaces with fires or heaters to create an extra cozy, welcoming environment. Little touches like offering shawls or mittens for outdoor moments, or having a basket of hand warmers by the door, can make guests feel extra cared for and keep the winter wonderland vibes going strong all night long.

Wildflower Whimsy Meets Thoughtful Design

Annie began the day getting ready alongside her mother and sister, sharing joyful moments and a celebratory champagne pop as they prepared for the big day ahead. Beauty services from Stowe’s Salon Salon ensured everyone looked and felt their best, and Annie was absolutely radiant in her flowing A-line gown from Hinterland Bride. Once ready, Annie and Ryan met down by the venue’s tranquil pond for a private first look and to exchange intimate vows, just the two of them. Framed by mountain views and late-summer sunshine, it was the kind of picture-perfect August moment you dream about!

When it came to floral design, Annie had just one request for Nicole of The Painted Tulip: plenty of wildflowers and lush greenery. From there, Nicole crafted a breathtaking floral palette that perfectly complemented the natural surroundings and the wedding party’s attire. Nicole pulled together a mix of local summer blooms in buttery yellows, soft whites, and dusty pinks and blues. The result was a perfect mix of whimsy and elegance.

The couple exchanged vows by the pond beneath a beautifully adorned with Nicole’s florals and, surrounded by serene mountain views.. The couple chose to keep their wedding parties small, a growing trend that puts the focus on the couple and the guests closest to them. One of our favorite photos captures Annie and Ryan at the end of the aisle, after being pronounced husband and wife, with every single guest visible behind them in celebration. (Cue all the warm and fuzzy feelings!)

After an outdoor cocktail hour soaking in the mountain views, guests made their way into the warmly lit lodge, transformed with sheer drapes, glowing string lights, and lush floral arrangements. The cozy, romantic atmosphere set the perfect tone for an evening full of heartfelt toasts, laughter, and dancing.

Laced Up and Ready to Party

Ryan and his groomsmen added a stylish, personal twist to their reception look by rocking matching Nike SBs, aka a perfect shoe for the dance floor takeover that followed. (And take over they did!) With Peak Entertainment keeping the energy high all night long, the dance floor was packed from the first song to the last. As the night grew on, guests waved LED light-up sticks, adding a fun, glowing touch to the celebration.

Guests also had a blast stepping into The Friendly Lens vintage photo booth, a charming touch that doubled as entertainment and a nostalgic keepsake. And for something a little more modern, the couple included a phone audio guest book, inviting friends and family to leave heartfelt (and hilarious) voice messages throughout the night.

When it came time for dessert, Annie and Ryan leaned into a local favorite. A Ben & Jerry’s cart served up scoops of everyone’s go-to Vermont treat. Guests also nibbled on Vermont-shaped cookies, a nod to the couple’s love of the state and a super sweet way to wrap up the day.

Emily and Matthew’s wedding at Magic Mountain was a colorful celebration from start to finish, bursting with personal touches and heartfelt moments. Captured beautifully by Vermont wedding photographer Arielle Thomas, no detail went unnoticed, from the vibrant florals to the sweet nods to the couple’s favorite music.  The Event Sisters shared this beautiful celebration, the talented wedding planners behind the day, who called it one of their favorite summer weddings to date. From the stunning mountain views to the surprise fireworks, it’s easy to see why!

Where Family Memories and New Beginnings Meet

For Emily and Matthew, choosing Magic Mountain as their wedding destination was a natural decision. More than just a scenic spot, it’s a place woven with family memories and personal significance. Emily’s family has treasured this Londonderry, Vermont gem since the 1980s, making it an especially meaningful choice for the couple’s own wedding, especially since it was also the site of Emily’s grandparents’ vows. Celebrating their love there felt like a perfect full-circle moment!

Emily and Matthew’s wedding weekend began with a Friday evening rehearsal dinner at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, where guests dined at curATE to the sounds of an acoustic guitar thanks to musician James Gram. When a last-minute pie pick-up hiccup emerged, planner Katie of The Event Sisters swooped in to save the day with a quick 30-minute detour, rejoining the party with various desserts so that the evening ended on a sweet note! Later, friends and family gathered at Equinox Resort for a lively welcome party under the stars.

Vows, Views, and Fireworks at Magic Mountain

The morning of the wedding began with both Emily and Matthew getting ready at the beautiful Equinox Resort in Manchester, Vermont. Before the festivities kicked off, the couple shared an intimate first look and exchanged private vows—a quiet, meaningful moment just for the two of them. Afterward, they parted ways to join their wedding parties and make the scenic 30-minute drive to Magic Mountain, where the ceremony awaited.

The ceremony took place beneath clear skies, creating the perfect backdrop for their mountaintop celebration. Emily and Matthew were married on the Aspen Deck at the base of the Magic Mountain chairlift, with vibrant summer florals by Full Moon Blooms adding an epic burst of color. (We don’t know what we love more, the lush aisle markers or the vibrantly decorated chuppah!)

Following their vows, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour complete with artisanal hors d’oeuvres, a generous cheese board, and beverages from Magic Mountain’s bar, all set to the sounds of The Katahdin Valley Boys Bluegrass Band. A short walk led the party to a tented reception space designed as a “pop-up wedding venue,” where heartfelt speeches and a beautiful dinner by Fin Food + Bar awaited. One of the sweetest details in the reception tent was how each table featured personal nods to Emily and Matthew’s favorite musicians and songs. Beautiful blue linens from The Linen Shop set the scene, accented by delicate bud vases and hand-crafted menus designed by The Event Sisters. Together, these thoughtful touches made the space feel both elegant and deeply personal.

As the night continued, guests returned to the Aspen Deck and Tavern for dancing and a dazzling surprise: a fireworks show planned by Emily’s dad and expertly pulled off by Magic Mountain’s team. The show lit up the night sky and was an unforgettable gift for the newlyweds and their guests!

The evening wrapped with the cutting of a stunning three-tiered Lambeth style cake by Dorset Bakery (their largest cake of the 2024 wedding season!) and non-stop dancing thanks to the help of Supersounds Entertainment. Emily also changed into a dazzling, beaded mini dress perfect for dancing the night away.

For a bride who spends her days as a nurse caring for others, Emily’s wish for her wedding day was simple: to feel like a bride, free to fully experience the joy of her wedding day. Matthew, in turn, hoped to feel “relaxed but excited… and loved.” Judging by the smiles and laughter from these photos, we’d say those dreams were beautifully fulfilled.

From Capturing Weddings to Celebrating Their Own: A Vermont Photographer Duo’s Disco-Inspired Day

Today’s blog post is an extra special one because we’re celebrating the love story of not one, but two incredibly talented Vermont wedding photographers: Carly and Kristin of Blooming Photo Company! After years of capturing other couples’ big days, it was finally their turn to step in front of the lens this past September. And let me tell you, their wedding did not disappoint. Think: disco vibes, vibrant colors, and a whole lot of love. With the help of Lake Bomoseen Lodge, Flower Power VT,  Premier Entertainment & Events, and Moho Photo, their vision came to life in the most joyful, creative way. Let’s dive into all the dreamy details!

How It All Began: A 2020 Love Story

Carly and Kristin first met in 2020, while both were living in New York City at the height of the pandemic. Their love story blossomed over FaceTime and weekend getaways to Vermont, where Carly’s family lived. Those early visits planted the seed for a meaningful wedding location: Lake Bomoseen, a place full of family memories, and a venue the photographer duo had both photographed numerous times. With Carly’s cousin, Rebecca, coordinating at the Lake Bomoseen Lodge, it all felt meant to be when it came time to plan their wedding.

One of the first things Carly and Kristin bonded over? Their shared love of disco, especially ABBA. So, naturally, their wedding theme started to sparkle from the very beginning. And then they realized their date fell on a Saturday in September…September 21 to be exact. A pitch-perfect nod to Earth, Wind & Fire that made the couple’s wedding theme all the more iconic!

DIY Florals and A Sweet First Look

Carly had always imagined creating her wedding flowers, so the couple teamed up with Anne of Flower Power VT to source blooms in their chosen palette of pink, orange, and red. Then, they hosted a flower party with friends the day before the wedding to arrange everything, from bud vases to bouquets and boutonnieres. Carly and Kristin’s car was overflowing with flowers, and the laughter-filled prep session became a cherished pre-wedding memory for both of them.

The morning of the wedding was full of sweet, quiet moments leading up to the celebration. Carly got ready at her childhood home just five minutes down the road from the venue before heading to one of the nearby cottages where the rest of her mom’s family was staying to finish getting dressed. Kristin got ready next door with her best friends and her mom by her side. The two brides shared a private first look at their hillside ceremony site overlooking Lake Bomoseen.

When it came time for the ceremony, guests entered the celebration decked out in 70s-inspired outfits. A drink station, cones of flower petals, and funky sunglasses awaited them, ready for all the fun that was still to come. Carly and Kristin walked down the aisle to a piano version of “Dancing Queen,” and after an emotional ceremony, officiated by Carly’s best friend and filled with powerful readings, including Justice Kennedy’s words from Obergefell v. Hodges, they made their joyful exit to the original ABBA classic while flower petals rained down.

Their wedding photographer and friend, Moriah of Moho Photo, described it best: 

“I think this wedding was one of my favorites to document from last year, not only because I know these two and how awesome they are (duh), but the entire day was the epitome of fun and joyful. I sobbed during the ceremony, and I’m usually not that easy to make weepy. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place!”

Dreamy Disco Decor and A Dance Floor for the Ages

After a short trip from the ceremony site, guests were ready for a lively cocktail hour. Carly and Kristin took some dreamy couples portraits before joining everyone. However, the real party was waiting upstairs in the reception space as it was truly a vibrant reflection of Carly and Kristin’s playful, disco-inspired vision! The area was decked out in sparkling disco balls, colorful bud vase arrangements from their DIY flower party, and a retro-inspired phone guest book station where loved ones could leave heartfelt (and likely hilarious) messages. Their sweetheart table was a total showstopper, complete with bold florals, twinkle lights and a glowing neon sign that read “Disco Made Me Do It.”

As the sun began to set, the couple snuck away for golden hour portraits by the lake, soaking in a few quiet moments together before rejoining the party in dazzling second outfits that were made for dancing, ready to light up the dance floor in true disco fashion. Kristin curated the evening’s music with DJ duo Talena and Patrick from Premier Entertainment & Events, crafting a soundtrack that blended disco, classic rock, reggaeton, bachata, and dance hits perfectly. The result? A delightfully packed dance floor from start to finish!

“My favorite images from their wedding were the dancing photos, hands down. Everyone was INTO IT, and it made documenting dancing so fun and immersive. Also, their first dance song was ‘Golden Hour’ by Kacey Musgraves—how cute is that?! You couldn’t pick a better song for two photographers,” shared Moriah of Moho Photo.

Final Thoughts from the Brides

Reflecting on the day, Carly and Kristin shared how surreal it was to be on the other side of the lens. The emotions, the whirlwind of it all, and most importantly, the outpouring of love from their favorite people made it unforgettable. From DIY florals to disco balls, every detail was a celebration of who they are, as individuals, as a couple, and as creatives who know a thing or two about what makes a wedding truly special.

“I typically book out a year to 8 months in advance. But if you have a smaller wedding (less than 50 people), there is a bit more flexibility. “We recommend doing a tasting a few months before your wedding. November – May is an excellent time for tastings because we’ll have greater availability outside of wedding season. “When it comes to pricing a wedding cake, labor is the most costly ingredient. Think about your cake design and how much extra time that will take to achieve. The bigger the wedding cake, the more time the design will take, and vice versa. Another major factor in pricing is the flavor. If you are requesting a custom flavor (off menu), it will take extra time for us to research, test, and perfect that new recipe. Not to mention, it could include ingredients that we don’t typically keep on hand. All of these things will add to that final cost.” – Blue House Bakeshop

“Creating a wedding cake is like creating a work of art. It takes a long time to master the skill and not everything can just whip up a cake that is beautiful, tastes great and is structurally sound. Couples have to understand that they are paying for that knowledge. Also, having a kitchen to work out of is a huge expense. “This is not a ‘mistake’, but more of something I’d like couples to think about. Keep your guests’ experience in mind and don’t be paranoid about non-traditional flavors! Don’t choose something plain/normal just because you think everyone will like it. I include 2 flavor combinations in the cost of the average to large orders because I want them to offer options! I’ve had 5-tier cakes in which each tier was a different flavor combination. (How fun is that?!)” – Fancy Pants Cakes

“Flowers on or around your cake can be gorgeous! However, there are many flowers that should never, ever come into contact with any kind of food. That is why having a knowledgeable wedding florist is important. They help you (and me!) make sure that beautiful, non-toxic florals are available at the venue at the time of delivery. “My most popular flavors are classic vanilla and lemon raspberry. They are super yummy and popular for a good reason. What trends are you loving in wedding cakes or desserts right now, and what do you consider timeless?

“A mixture of flavors and different kinds of desserts -easy to please a crowd of people! For example, a young lively crowd will eat more handheld foods to bring to the dance floor, while an older crowd prefers more of a traditional slice of cake/sit-down dessert.  In terms of trends, the lambeth-style cakes are always fun. Simple buttercream covered with flowers, though there are many ways that you can arrange the flowers to give the cake different looks: more or less traditional, neat vs wild, monochrome vs bright, subtle vs over the top. “I love when couples think outside the box. A couple getting married this summer requested mini churros for their dessert table, and I loved the idea so much, I added them to my permanent menu. How do you help couples design a cake that reflects their personality or wedding style?

“I ask them lots of questions! If a couple shares inspiration photos that reflect a wide range of styles, I ask a lot of questions to figure out what they are drawn to in those photos. From there, I can find other specific examples online that might show how we can bring different elements together. With some back and forth, we can figure out the perfect plan!” – Fancy Pants Cakes

“I will typically ask couples to send me lots of photos (or a Pinterest board) with their wedding style goals and any cake designs they like, and I will go from there to make suggestions based on my own design talents and abilities that fit within that style goal. Sometimes couples are really specific about what they want, which is great, and makes for less back and forth. How did you get into wedding photography? 

I studied documentary photography at the New England School of Photography, where I learned how to anticipate moments, tell stories through images, and capture people in a way that feels real and unscripted. I started out photographing landscapes, drawn to the way light shapes a scene, but once I photographed my first wedding, I was hooked. Weddings are this incredible mix of raw emotion, fast-paced action, and storytelling, and it felt like the perfect place to bring my documentary approach to life.

What I love most is the challenge. Being fully present, anticipating moments before they happen, and capturing the real, unfiltered emotions of the day. At the same time, I love finding creative ways to incorporate the landscape while creating epic, artistic portraits that feel as unique as the couple. It’s not just about documenting a wedding—it’s about telling a story in a way that feels honest, timeless, and visually striking. Every wedding is different, and every couple is unique. I love getting to create something that truly reflects them.

How would you describe your photography style?

I’m a documentary wedding photographer with an artistic edge. I capture real moments as they unfold and create bold, creative portraits. My approach is natural, laid-back, and focused on telling each couple’s story in a way that feels true to them.

What inspires your work?

I’m inspired by the passage of time and the way things age, whether it’s a person, a place, or a moment. Street photography has taught me how small, raw moments can carry so much meaning as time goes on. I’m drawn to the emotions people feel—those fleeting expressions and unscripted reactions that tell the truest stories. It’s through light and composition that I transform these moments into something timeless, capturing the realness of the present while honoring its lasting significance.

Any special tips for couples for choosing/working with a wedding photographer?

When choosing a wedding photographer, make sure their style feels like a good fit for you. Look for someone who captures real moments and emotions—those little, unscripted bits that really tell your story. It’s also key to feel comfortable with your photographer since you’ll be spending a lot of time together. Don’t be afraid to share what’s important to you and trust them to capture it in their own way.

If you weren’t a wedding professional what would you do?

If I weren’t a wedding photographer, I’d definitely be involved in music in some way. I love programming synthesizers, producing my own tracks, and DJing vinyl records. I also get really into the engineering side of things—mixing, mastering, and all the little details that bring a track to life. Music and photography both let me express creativity and tell a story, so it’s a natural fit for me!

What’s a fun fact about you, Steve?

A fun fact about me is that I’m a huge fan of mixing things up, literally. I love experimenting with sounds in music, whether it’s blending different genres or trying out new production techniques. It’s the same in my photography—whether it’s combining natural moments with creative portraits or using light in unexpected ways, I always love to see what happens when I push the boundaries a bit.

A Camel’s Hump Proposal and a Shared Love of Adventure

Wendy and Nick’s love story began nearly nine years ago at a cross-country party during Wendy’s very first weekend at Bates College. Since then, their shared love of the outdoors and active lifestyle has remained a constant. In fact, Nick proposed at the summit of Camel’s Hump—sweaty, muddy, and totally in their element. 

Wendy and Nick, both originally from Massachusetts, have called several parts of New England home, including Maine and now Vermont. The pair has always loved the changing of the seasons, especially the vibrant beauty of fall. So when it came time to plan their wedding, they searched for a venue that captured the magic of foliage season with a romantic, mountain setting. Jay Peak was the perfect fit!

Floral Arches, Fall Leaves, and a Vows With a Twist

The day began with Wendy getting ready alongside her bridesmaids, setting a joyful and relaxed tone for the celebration ahead. She wore a stunning gown from Veilmonté Bridal Boutique, with hair and makeup by the talented team at Smudge Makeup. Her bridesmaids wore elegant green dresses, each in a slightly different style to reflect their personalities. Meanwhile, Nick and his groomsmen got ready in between rounds of card games in a separate area of Jay Peak. The weather cooperated, the mountains showed off their seasonal color palette, and every detail of the celebration reflected Wendy and Nick’s personalities. A few standout details made Wendy and Nick’s wedding ceremony truly unforgettable. First, the setting: peak fall foliage surrounded their vows in vibrant color, creating a picture-perfect New England backdrop. Memory Lane Floral Designs elevated the scene with a stunning floral arch that beautifully complemented the bridal bouquets and boutonnieres. And in a uniquely personal twist, the couple chugged running gels during the ceremony. It was a playful and meaningful nod to how they first met and their shared commitment to pushing each other forward, both in races and in life.

After the ceremony, Wendy and Nick took portraits by a nearby pond while the groomsmen relaxed by skipping rocks and joking around. The atmosphere throughout the day was full of genuine happiness, with guests clearly enjoying being together to celebrate. The reception was held under a tent and featured several thoughtful DIY elements the couple created themselves. They designed their own centerpieces and used color-coded ribbons on escort cards to indicate each guest’s meal choice. After heartfelt speeches, the dance floor opened and quickly filled up. Guests also had the option to unwind by a nearby fire pit as the evening continued. As a final treat, guests were served an assortment of fruit crisps and scoops of ice cream. What a delicious way to close out the celebration!

1. Timing is Everything 
So, you want to plan a fall wedding in Vermont? Fabulous choice! This probably means that you are also hoping for the vibrant fall foliage Vermont is known for. Peak foliage can vary by location and year, but generally, late September to mid-October is your best bet. Northern and higher elevation areas (like Stowe or Jay Peak) tend to turn earlier, while southern regions stay green a bit longer.  However, each year can still be different, thanks to certain factors like the weather. Check historic foliage reports and chat with your venue to pinpoint the best weekend to book.

2. Book Early (Like, Really Early)
Fall is one of the most popular times to get married in Vermont (for good reason!), so venues and vendors for peak fall foliage dates get booked fast.  If you’re dreaming of those golden mountain views, secure your spot at least a year in advance, sometimes even earlier for top locations. Vermont’s fall foliage is breathtaking, but it doesn’t stick around for long, making those golden wedding dates as rare as they are beautiful.

Love Is All in the Details

Florence and Tim’s morning unfolded at a relaxed pace, filled with laughter and quiet anticipation as Florence got ready alongside her bridesmaids and family. Every detail felt intentionally chosen, creating a sense of warmth and meaning from the very beginning. A locket engraved with “feels like home” and the couple’s wedding date, a shiny gold purse, and an heirloom tablecloth from the bride’s grandmother, each item was a sweet nod to the people and memories that shaped their love story. Before the ceremony, Florence met Tim beneath a graceful weeping willow for a heartfelt first look. It was a quiet, grounding moment between the two of them, perfectly capturing their deep connection.

Just a short walk away, guests gathered at the Intervale’s event barn for cocktail hour and meaningful speeches from family members and Florence and Tim themselves. For dinner, the couple chose a long, family-style table setup under a canopy of trees to encourage conversation and connection. The long table was decorated with bud vases filled with bright and bold flowers curated by Florence. Guests enjoyed craft beverages from Salt & Bubbles and a locally sourced menu by Mr. Foods Fancy, before rounding out the memorable evening with hours of lively dancing.

Captured on Film: A Love Story for the Ages

Florence adores film photos and takes beautiful photos herself, so it was important to her to center this craft on her special day. Tim and Florence’s photographer, Lilian from Gold Wing Photography, understood the mission perfectly!

Lilian truly unleashed her creativity for the evening resulting in a beautiful, thoughtfully curated film. From a double-exposure shot featuring the bride’s ring and her grandmother’s cross-stitch tablecloth to intimate moments captured with friends and family, these photographs will serve as a treasured piece of this day for a lifetime.

Pretty in Pink: An Inside Look At This Couple’s Joyful Vermont Wedding

Born and raised in Vermont, Orla and Jess always dreamed of getting married in the mountains. Charmingly tucked under Mount Mansfield, there was no better spot for their wedding than the Squabetty family homestead. The happy couple’s special day was filled to the brim with nature, vintage charm, romance, and a whole lot of pink! From Saving Lives to Finding Love

As a medevac helicopter pilot and a critical care transport nurse, Orla and Jess’s love story began at work. While their story started with friendship, over time their bond grew into the relationship they both had been waiting for their whole lives!

Jess introduced Orla to the show The Office, where the love story between Jim and Pam unfolds. In so many ways, Jess and Orla are the Jim and Pam of their own love story. (Love that!) The couple got engaged in Ireland, which holds deep meaning for Orla, as both of her parents were born there, and her mother was buried there. Jess proposed on the Cliffs of Moher, a stunning and unforgettable location for the both of them.

A Pink-Themed Party with Heart Sunglasses, Bluegrass Beats, and All the Joy

As a couple who spent so much time outdoors– skiing, hiking, and embracing every season and activity together- picking  Vermont, and ultimately, Squabetty as their wedding location was an easy choice; it truly felt like home! Jess and Orla knew from the start that they wanted their wedding day to be vibrant, joyful, and full of personality. To set the tone, they chose a lively bluegrass band that kept the energy high throughout the celebration. They also encouraged guests to lean into a playful pink dress code—and let’s just say, everyone understood the assignment! Before the festivities kicked off, Orla got ready with her bridesmaids in matching robes and fun heart-shaped sunglasses, setting the stage for a morning filled with laughter and anticipation ahead of the couple’s sweet first look.

Moving violin music played as Orla and Jess came together for their ceremony, sharing vows that expressed a love deeper than they had ever imagined before meeting one another. They stood beneath a unique triangle arch (its shape mirroring the surrounding mountain peaks!), creating a striking focal point. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour complete with lawn games, cozy lounge seating, and a spread of delicious bites from Caja Madera. With gorgeous pops of color and vintage charm, courtesy of Orla’s epic thrifting and collecting skills, this wedding was truly an event bursting with charm! 

The celebration continued in a beautifully decorated event barn, adorned with lush florals by Pistil Production, personal photos, and vintage glassware collected throughout the planning process. One of the most important elements of Orla and Jess’s wedding was a memorial table dedicated to Orla’s mother and best friend. We also love the couple’s epic dessert display, crowned with a custom cake topper that paid homage to the couple’s shared careers, a personal and meaningful detail that guests won’t soon forget.

While their wedding day was certainly memorable on its own, the most unforgettable moments were the love, support, and help the couple received from their friends and family. Congratulations, Orla and Jess!

Stephanie and John’s love story began with a swipe and a shared love of sweet potatoes. One night in her new Cambridge apartment, Stephanie was casually scrolling through Hinge when she stumbled upon a profile that caught her eye. After some easy banter, John asked Stephanie out to a wine bar the Monday before her first day of grad school.

On her way to the date, Stephanie made way for a biker weaving through the sidewalk crowd. (Moments later, she realized that the biker was John!) Their next few dates included yoga, tennis, ice cream, and even John’s sister’s birthday party. Just like that, things took off. In two years, the couple packed in a lifetime of memories and were more than ready to start forever together.

Back at Reading Farms Estate, On Thyme Events transformed the grounds into a breathtaking reception space that celebrated the natural beauty of the season. Rich mahogany tables and chairs set the scene, accented by golden rose flatware and softly glowing candlelight. Floral arrangements featured soft snapdragons, hydrangeas, and cascading Lies Bleeding Amaranth, with mini pumpkins and cattails adding rustic flair for fall. A velvety, dusty blue runner draped across each table, tying the color palette together perfectly!

Passed hors d’oeuvres included mini lobster rolls and meatball sliders, followed by a farm-to-table dinner crafted by Chef Richard of On Thyme Events. Entrées included filet mignon with bourbon reduction and miso-glazed cod, served with seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes. For dessert? Warm apple cider donuts, assorted cookies, and scoops of homemade Vermont maple ice cream.As a final sweet touch, guests left with elegant glass maple leaf bottles filled with local Vermont maple syrup—a delicious souvenir of an unforgettable weekend in the Green Mountain state.

From Grad School to Green Mountains

Sarah & Kevin’s love story began eight years before their wedding, when they met in graduate school. During those years as busy (and often broke) grad students, their favorite way to escape the city was by camping in the Upper Valley and hiking nearby Mt. Ascutney. Vermont quickly became their retreat; a place where they could unplug, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and simply be together! So when they got engaged, it felt only natural to return to the landscape they loved so much. Sarah’s mother discovered The Inn at Weathersfield, knowing how special that part of Vermont was to them, and the rest was history. Surrounded by a small, tight-knit group of family and friends, Sarah & Kevin said “yes” to spending the rest of their lives together at this hidden gem of a wedding venue.

A Quiet Beginning to a Beautiful Wedding Day

Before their ceremony, Sarah & Kevin chose to share a quiet first look; a moment just for them before the day unfolded. Kevin even carried a hidden detail close to his heart—inside his suit jacket, the  couple’s wedding date was delicately embroidered, a sentimental reminder of the day they made ‘forever’ official. It was the perfect reflection of how they approached their wedding day in general: with intention, connection, and love. 

For the ceremony itself, Sarah & Kevin exchanged vows in a serene wooded clearing, the Inn at Weatherfield’s Chapel in the Woods. The space was surrounded by towering trees and the quiet rustle of autumn leaves. The ceremony space was brought to life with stunning florals by Fast Pony Flowers, featuring a rich autumnal palette of warm oranges, deep reds, and golden hues that blended seamlessly with the beauty of the season. 

A short walk away was the cocktail hour and reception space which was equal parts charming and beautiful. Guests were welcomed into the space with personal touches that brought Sarah and Kevin’s personalities to life. Some of our favorite details include matchbooks marked with their names, playful fanny packs featuring the couple’s beloved cats, and a vinyl record guest book, a nod to their love of music and the soundtrack of their relationship.

With just 35 guests, Sarah & Kevin embraced the intimacy of their celebration by gathering everyone around one long, family-style table under bistro lights. The setup encouraged conversation, laughter, tear-jerking speeches, and a true sense of togetherness. Surrounded by candlelight and autumnal florals, the atmosphere was both elegant and deeply personal.

And when it came time for dessert, the couple skipped the traditional wedding cake in favor of something that felt more like them: a spread of homemade pies, each bite a sweet taste of fall. (Because really, what’s a fall wedding without pie?!)

As the evening continued, their intimate celebration turned into a joyous, unforgettable party. Laughter filled the air as heartfelt toasts were shared, and soon, the dance floor was alive with energy, thanks to DJ Outlaw. It was elegant yet effortless, sophisticated yet so much fun—a wedding that felt not just beautifully planned but deeply, wonderfully them. Congratulations, Sarah and Kevin!

Meet Vermont Wedding Photographer, Melissa Lynn Images

When it comes to capturing a wedding day, the magic lies in the little moments—the quiet glances, the joyful laughter, the once-in-a-lifetime details you’ll want to relive for years to come. That’s exactly what Vermont wedding photographer Melissa Lynn Images does best. With a talent for blending artistry and authenticity, Melissa creates timeless, emotion-filled images that tell each couple’s unique love story. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Melissa and share more about her approach to wedding photography in Vermont.

How did you get into the wedding industry?

Growing up my dad was a hobby photographer and he would create photo challenges between the two of us.  Some of them even required waking up around sunrise to drive up the road and photograph the fog-covered valley and mountains around us.  He gave up on these photo challenges when I was about 12 and he realized I was always winning his “competition”. 

As a high school graduation gift, my dad gave me a camera because I “wanted to be a photographer”.  I asked a co-worker if I could come to her wedding to take some photos for her.  She said she would have to ask her photographer (Named Hal Johnson) for permission.  Hal Johnson was someone who was really well known in our small town and had owned a local photography studio for 30+ years.   I went to the wedding and stood on the sidelines taking photos.  As the reception started Hal came over to me and said “So I hear you want to be a photographer”. “Yes, I do”.  He then said “You should buy my studio”  And I laughed at him.  I thought he was joking.  The person I was with nudged me and said “he’s not joking”.  I told Hal I had just graduated high school and hadn’t gone to college yet.  Hal’s response was “that’s ok!  I have been watching you and you have a great eye, and are good with people.  I can teach you the rest.”  He also explained that his wife had cancer and they didn’t want to liquidate everything they had worked for.   So I bought his studio, and he worked beside me every day for a year, teaching me everything possible.  A few years later when I moved to Vermont I decided I didn’t want to do studio work anymore and I focused all my energy into wedding photography.

How would you describe your style?

True to life, colorful, fun, and natural with a focus on candids but still incorporating the must have portraits

What inspires your work?

I love being able to stop time and tell people’s stories.  But also, capturing people at their best and making even the most “awkward” people feel comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera.

Any special tips for couples? (when it comes to photography or wedding tips in general)

I can’t stress enough how important it is to have amazing vendors, who you truly connect with, and share your vision for your day.  Also, while you are wedding planning everyone will tell you how they think you should do things.  If you stay focused on the two of you, and what you want for your day, everything will be perfect in the end. 

If you had to choose another career, what would it be?

I would love to own a boutique little plant store/greenhouse/cafe, that sometimes doubles an occasional small event venue. 

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

I have owned my business, and have been photographing weddings professionally since I was 19!

A Love Story That Began with Crocs

When Elle confronted Jack about his choice of Crocs at a party during their sophomore year at Middlebury, she had no idea she had just met her future husband. What began as a playful argument evolved into a spirited debate and ultimately led to Jack securing her number.

Despite spending semesters abroad on opposite sides of the world, Elle and Jack stayed in touch. As their junior year ended, a shared summer on campus brought them closer together, turning casual encounters into something real. After graduating, they built a life in Boston before distance tested their love once more; Elle’s PhD in California meant years of long-distance. Eventually, Jack closed the distance by finding a job in California, and soon after, he proposed during a misty morning walk by the ocean in Big Sur.

Transforming Isham Family Farm into a Magical Wedding Venue

When it came time to choose a wedding location, there was never a doubt—Vermont had been the place where their story began, and Elle and Jack couldn’t wait to share its beauty and charm with their loved ones! They fell in love with Isham Family Farm, located in Williston. Its scenic views, convenient location to the airport and tons of local activities, plus charming 200-year-old event barn made it the perfect choice for a fall wedding.

Given that food has always been at the heart of Elle and Jack’s relationship, Elle’s first wedding-related decision after securing the venue was booking Palmer Lane Maple to serve their beloved maple creemees. (Now what could be more Vermont than that?!)

A Ceremony with Laughter, Love, and a Calf Named Corky

The night before their wedding, family, and wedding party members gathered at Isham Family Farm to help Elle and Jack transform the barn into a celebration space, hanging disco balls, stringing twinkling lights, and carefully setting tables adorned with personalized menus.

On the morning of their wedding day, Elle and Jack shared their first look in a secluded grove of golden trees, soaking in a quiet moment together before the festivities began. The wedding party donned navy jumpsuits and suits, with Jack standing out in a forest green suit. Bouquets of eucalyptus, mint, and delicate panda anemones by A School House Garden tied everything together with a fresh, modern touch.

Their ceremony took place on a grassy knoll overlooking the mountains, with Camel’s Hump in full autumnal glory as the backdrop. Elle’s uncle, a professional comedian, officiated, bringing laughter to the ceremony while Elle and Jack exchanged heartfelt vows through happy tears. For their vows, Elle and Jack wrote in vow books they had picked up on their last trip to Japan, a heartfelt tribute to Elle’s Japanese heritage. 

After the ceremony, guests made the short procession down the knoll and across the road to the cocktail and reception area, pausing to greet an unexpected but welcome guest, Corky the calf, who charmed everyone along the way!

Artful Details Rooted in Love and Nostalgia

The party officially began with a warm and inviting cocktail hour, leading guests into a beautifully designed barn filled with personal touches. Elle’s bridesmaid, Grace, who is also the owner of Grace Kennedy Design, played a key role in bringing their vision to life, designing everything from the invitations to a custom wedding emblem that adorned their stationery, matchbooks, and menus. The seating chart, a tribute to the couple’s love for the outdoors, featured tables named after their favorite hikes. We also love the floral work done by Vermont wedding florist A School House Garden. Lush greenery, including eucalyptus and mint, adorned the farmhouse tables, enhancing their beauty and perfectly complementing the candles, linens, and tableware.

Dinner was an easy choice: Folino’s pizza, a Middlebury staple the couple loves, paired with expertly crafted cocktails from Babes Bar (a dirty martini with extra olives for Elle, an Ideal Manhattan for Jack!) and a selection of natural wines. As the night went on, the celebration took on a lively energy thanks to Supersounds Entertainment, and included as many tasteful Taylor Swift references as Jack could tolerate. However, the party also didn’t stop after the last dance; an after-party in downtown Burlington, DJ’d by a friend, kept Elle and Jack’s celebration going until 3 AM.

With Elle’s father’s family still living in Japan, the couple plans to travel there in March for an intimate, traditional wedding celebration with her Japanese relatives. Congratulations, Elle and Jack, on your gorgeous wedding day!
