Rock & Roll Themed Wedding at Old Lantern Inn and Barn

Kari and Patrick’s 1970s rock & roll themed wedding at Old Lantern Inn and Barn can only be described as an epic and wild event!  The vibrant colors, remarkable details, and personalization of this wedding is one we will NEVER forget!

Old Lantern Inn and Barn Summer Wedding

There are so many notable details to mention for this summer wedding! Old Lantern Inn and Barn was the perfect venue to host this awesome couple and their guests. Kari and Patrick are both musicians and made sure to incorporate many unique details and vendors, while still honoring classic wedding traditions.

Their outdoor wedding ceremony was unforgettable. Kari walked down the aisle to a live electric guitar solo of “Layla” by Derek and the Dominos. Kari’s father had sadly passed away nine years earlier, so a seat was saved for him in the front row along the aisle. They made sure to include her father’s memory during the ceremony by being wrapped in his tallis by the officiant. The moment Patrick and Kari kissed as husband and wife, the DJ blasted “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince as the couple geared up for the breaking of the glass, a Jewish ceremony tradition. Then, the whole wedding party danced it out!

Rock & Roll-Themed Wedding Details

The reception decor was out of this world! They went all out with the 1970s rock n’ roll theme! First, their card box was an open guitar case and the guest book was known as the “Groupie Book.” Instead of table numbers, all guests sat at band tables labeled by vinyl record centerpieces. Along with a vinyl record on each table, the centerpieces had a bouquet of flowers with the couple’s favorite love lyrics from the table’s specific band. For their photobooth, Patrick drew a rock n’ roll cow. His dad enlarged his illustrations up onto wood panels to create stand-up face-hole cutouts!

Their first dance was to “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” by Elvin Bishop and it was unlike any other we’ve seen! The choreography was complete with lifts and Patrick playing Kari’s leg like a guitar. Kari and Patrick then performed their own cake-cutting song on guitar and bass (with a friend drumming). They got married on July 3 so they changed the lyrics of “Saturday in the Park” by Chicago to “Sunday in Vermont…the day before the 4th of July!”

Everyone was on the dance floor for the rest of the night! The hora was one-of-a-kind, arranged by a musician friend that sampled 17 rock songs represented by the bands labeling each guest’s dinner table. A guest brought a Dave Grohl cardboard cutout (Patrick loves the Foo Fighters) and he crowd-surfed when “Times Like These” played at the reception.

Instead of a sparkler send-off, Kari and Patrick had a lighter send-off. All guests were given lighters like at a big rock concert and waved them around as Kari and Patrick left the barn as “I Would Do Anything For Love” by Meat Loaf played.

This epic wedding goes to show the small details and meaningful music selections can be incredibly memorable!

Winter Wedding at Lake Bomoseen Lodge

Vermont winter weddings are so magical! Angela and Matt planned their day at Lake Bomoseen Lodge with hints of vintage glamour and Vermont charm. Tipsy Tulip Designs created beautiful wintry floral designs and McNeil Reedy created a timeless look for Matt and his groomsmen. We always recommend hiring a videographer, and they chose Eightzero2 Productions to capture their wedding day perfectly (see their wedding video below)!

Six years earlier, Angela and Matt attended a winter wedding together in Vermont. Even though they had initially never pictured a winter wedding for themselves, it was so beautiful and enchanting, they knew one day a Vermont winter wedding would be a part of their story as well.

Gorgeous Winter Wedding Details

Velvet and burgundy details were perfect for this winter wedding. From the bridesmaid dresses to Angela’s red velvet shoes, to the groomsmen’s ties…the rich color looked incredible against the snowy backdrop! I loved that they added fur stoles to stay warm and add a vintage flare.

Instead of a first look before the ceremony, Angela and Matt decided to do a first touch instead. Matt didn’t want to see Angela in her dress before the ceremony, but she knew her nerves could not withstand waiting until the ceremony entrance. They stood around the corner of the front porch on Pine Cottage and held hands, laughed, cried, and exchanged a couple of cheeky remarks.

Romantic Reception at Lake Bomoseen Lodge

After their ceremony, the couple headed out onto the frozen Lake Bomoseen to take portraits. With temperatures in the mid-teens, Angela came prepared with her fur shrug, snow books, and her “something blue”: Vermont Darn Tough boot socks

Right before their reception began they decided to do a private reveal of their reception space upstairs in the Loft. While everyone was downstairs in the Taproom wrapping up cocktail hour it gave them 10 minutes to just stop and be present with each other, and savor the bliss of finally being husband and wife. Like everyone says, the day flies by, so one of my biggest tips is to find a few minutes for just the two of you!

Taking these few minutes allowed them to take in all of the details of the reception space (without the blur of the music or people). It ended up being their favorite moment because the DJ was setting up and offered to cue their first dance song, “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton, so they had an impromptu “unofficial” first dance just the two of them surrounded by romantic candlelight.

Springtime Wedding at the Sugarbush Resort

Sugarbush Resort is, of course, a huge ski destination in the winter, but it’s also the perfect venue for a May wedding! Liz and Nick had been together for ten years and engaged for three when COVID forced them to push their wedding an extra year. Everyone was SO excited to finally have their special day; plus, it was one of the first events post-Covid shut down and everyone was ready to party! Kelsey Regan Photography was there to capture it all.

Both Liz and Nick went to college in Vermont and loved it so much they have chosen to build their life here post-college. They specifically chose Sugarbush Resort for their wedding so all of their guests could stay with them on the property. They were able to spend lots of quality time with their guests for the entire weekend and it made for a fun after-party!

Bright Florals & Meaningful Wedding Details

Liz’s mom, Linda, is a florist, so flowers were a huge focus of the day – both for the ceremony and the reception. It was Linda’s dream to make these flowers ones to remember, and they certainly were! She designed an incredible arch with flowers covering the entire arch from start to finish. At the end of the aisle, there were big, bright arrangements atop two whiskey barrels. Everything from the bouquets to the table arrangements looks gorgeous for a spring wedding! Plus they complimented the unique floral bridesmaid dresses!

Liz and Nick are big hikers, so the entire day had a mountain theme. Each table was named after a Vermont mountain that they’ve hiked together. Next to each mountain sign was a photo of the couple at the summit of that mountain and the date that they hiked it. “Since we have been together for a decade, it wasn’t hard to collect 15 summit photos,” says Liz. We love this how this detail both compliments the ski resort venue and gives guests a glimpse into the couple’s life together!

They also helped Justice of the Peace Greg Trulson write their ceremony because it was very important for the couple to have it be personalized with their love story. He knocked it out of the park and it was such a beautiful ceremony.

Spring Wedding at Sugarbush Resort

Using a ski resort in the “off-season” is a great option for Vermont weddings! The mountain views are a stunning backdrop to an outdoor ceremony! (Also take advantage of the ski lift for a photo opportunity!) Their guests had access to the entire property all weekend and got to enjoy all of the springtime activities at Sugarbush Resort!

Outdoor Summer Wedding at Talta Lodge

Both the bride and groom were raised in Vermont and met at UVM. They moved to Boston after college where they got engaged, added dog Finley to their family and are now back living in Vermont!

They knew Talta Lodge, located in the heart of Stowe, VT, was the perfect wedding venue. Talta is a modern, boutique lodge with all of the cozy mountain vibes. The open outdoor grassy area allowed for a beautiful sailcloth tent to be the backdrop for the day, as well as a dog friendly ceremony space! We love when your fur baby can join in on the fun!

Unique & Fun Vermont Wedding Vendors

Taylor and Zach worked alongside Sarah Judith Events to hire unique vendors to make their day  unique. The handmade wood fired pizzas were a huge hit followed by the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream truck for dessert. They had a mix of elegant and traditional touches, with super fun and memorable experiences for their guests.

The couple’s goal of bringing energy to the dance floor was a success, every single guest was out of their chairs and up on that dance floor! Even though there were close to 200 guests in attendance, it somehow felt intimate with how much love was surrounding the couple.

Beyond Bliss Films always does such a great job telling the story of the day from start to finish. It overcast day in Stowe, but as soon as the bride started walking down the aisle the clouds parted and the sun came out for the ceremony! Be sure to check out their wedding film below!
