One of the most exciting wedding trends this year is the resurgence of colorful weddings. From vibrant florals and bridesmaids’ dresses to lively tablescapes, everything is radiating with brighter hues. Erin and Mark’s Lucky Origins
Erin and Mark first met on St. Patrick’s Day in Boston in 2017. Mark is of Irish origin, and in speaking with Erin, she shared with us that she feels that there has been plenty of Celtic symbolism throughout their relationship! An example of this is how in 2021, Mark gifted her a trip to Acadia for their birthday. Unfortunately, Erin broke her foot while Irish step dancing at his cousin’s wedding. Strangely enough, Mark was more bummed than Erin, despite her having to live with three months of a foot brace. When they made it to Acadia next fall, Mark proposed at the top of Sargent Mountain. At their wedding, her new family mopped the floor before Erin began Irish dancing to Drop Kick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up to Boston.”
Before the pandemic, Erin had never visited our beautiful state of Vermont, despite living in New England her entire life. When one of her closest friends invited her to a spa weekend in Woodstock, Vermont, she fell in love with the adorable village, as well as the inn’s rustic charm. Next, she decided to share the experience with her future husband and their husky in May of 2023. While there, they decided to do an impromptu tour of the Woodstock Inn’s wedding venue options. Both of them loved the farm fresh food, the golf course, the outdoor activities, and the charming staff.
The couple ended up being married at Woodstock Inn the next year on the same weekend that they visited, which was a happy coincidence! Since most of their family was coming from outside of New England, Erin and Mark were both sold on the idea of being married at a destination worth traveling to. The couple wanted to share the “picturesque and serene village” of Woodstock with the rest of their family and friends.
Throughout the wedding planning, their goal was to offer a stress-free and laidback experience for their friends and family, which matches the energy of the Woodstock Inn perfectly.
Details of their Colorful and Vibrant Day
Erin and Mark planned every detail of their day with care. They began with first looks, sharing emotional moments with their parents and then with each other. As the day unfolded, the color palette they chose became evident, setting a vibrant and cohesive tone for the entire day.
One of our favorite parts of the wedding was the bridesmaid’s rainbow-colored dresses and matching bouquets. Erin let her bridesmaids choose their own colored dresses, because she wanted the women closest to her to feel their most beautiful on her special day. M’s Wedding Flowers did a perfect job of color matching the flowers to the dresses, which brought even more life to the bridesmaids’ vibrant dresses. All the color from the dresses brought so much life to the Woodstock Inn’s classic New England exterior, and it felt as if the lawn had been transformed into a wildflower garden. The groomsmen also added some color with their maroon ties, rich chestnut brown shoes, and floral arrangements on their lapels.
The couple hosted their ceremony at the Paul Barn, an in-house venue at the Woodstock Inn. For the centerpiece of their altar, M’s Wedding Florals opted for a simple fern archway to frame the rustically chic barn. Erin chose to keep her own flowers white for a seamless match with her ballgown style wedding dress. An aspect of the dress that we love is the bow in the back that embraces the coquette trend. Her dress was the perfect combination of timeless and trendy. She added a pop of color with royal blue heels as her something blue. All of her bridesmaids standing besides the altar created a rainbow of flowers that looked beautiful against the backdrop of the quaint barn!
Elements for an Unforgettable Celebration
After the ceremony, the couple hosted their reception at another one of Woodstock Inn’s ballrooms. The newlyweds table had a lighted sign behind it with their shared last name, which was a creative way to mark their table. Rather than selecting new centerpieces for their tables, the couple opted to repurpose the bridesmaids’ bouquets. We admire how M’s Wedding Florals artistically blended the varied hues of the bridal bouquets into numerous centerpieces, ensuring that every table was vibrant and full of life. For their cake, Erin and Mark went with a heart shape with cherries along the border for an adorable vintage, diner-style vibe.
When reflecting on her wedding, one of Erin’s favorite moments was when an old family friend found a four leaf clover on the lawn in front of the Inn. Erin recalled the two of them finding many four and five leaf clovers on her lawn growing up, likely because of the fertilizer her dad would use. (But something about this four-leaf clover felt different and more real!) It was the first moment that she felt emotional about her and Mark’s special day.
M’s Wedding Flowers and the Woodstock Inn brilliantly brought Erin and Mark’s vibrant, floral springtime wedding vision to life. It’s refreshing to witness the resurgence of color in wedding celebrations, and flowers are undeniably one of the most beautiful ways to achieve that. The Woodstock Inn served as an ideal venue for their joyous union, surrounded by the vivid hues of spring. Congratulations, Erin and Mark, on your radiant wedding!
