Jodie and Sam originally planned to get married in Wales, Jodie's home country, so her grandparents could join in the celebration. But, as COVID lingered on, the couple knew they had to make an alternate plan.
"The idea of getting married without them was incredibly painful," says Jodie. "The Inn At Weathersfield informed us that they had an opening a week away on July 30th, which just happened to be my grandparents' 65th wedding anniversary." The couple took it as a sign and planned their elopement. The couple wrote their own vows (Sam accompanied with his guitar) and their beloved dog, Loup, sat by their side waiting to offer their rings.
"After the ceremony we were given champagne to toast with and we whisked ourselves away to the river to have a post-wedding dip," recalls Jodie. "We spent the next two days at the Inn, eating good food, playing cards, and being happy newlyweds. It was hard not to be with our family and friends at the wedding, but we felt their presence in the trees surrounding us. We can't wait to celebrate with them in person whenever it's safe to do so."
Congratulations, Jodie and Sam!
